Wow! What a fantastic package that is going to be. I'm glad to see Search Out Science on there.
I think I'll join you with a Woo and a Hoo of my own!

bit of a supprise that it's going to be a double disc release but the extras look pretty good..

Sophie Aldred looks like Edd the Duck on Matt's cover.
Great list of extras. Search out Science is almost unwatchably awful but we'd never have slept at night if it hadn't been on there. I'm looking forward to seeing Adele Silva's cat flap too.
Second commentary (episode three only). Fan commentary from the winners of a recent Doctor Who Magazine competition.

I might make this my first Doctor Who DVD... if only to hear Batman At The Controls, Jeno Solar Brother, and Ernest R Soul do their commentary.

Looks like it's going to be a cracking release - possibly the DVD of the year, already...?
And they've got the Silva too! Woo hoo!!!

Nice looking set of extras there, worth buying on release - I'd usually wait a few months for 80s stories.

The Endgame feature should be interesting I think. And I'm guessing that some of the deleted scenes have come from JN-T's collection, so it'll be interesting to see what's turned up.

The fan commentary (even only one episode) might still be enough to stop me buying this release.

Come off it, you'll just buy it and leave it shrinkwrapped at the bottom of your wardrobe

I never leave my Doctor Who DVDs shrinkwrapped.

Don't worry Ralph, I'm sure there'll be a Pertwee release announced soon.

There's some more liberties taken with the soundtrack by Mark Ayres:
When building the tracklay for the 5.1 I had the raw dialogue from the '71 edits which I reconformed to the final cut, plus the music and effects reels and music. There were two "winds", one "rumbles" and two "explosions" bands for the cheetah planet on the original effects tapes, but I made up my own additional wind sounds for surrounds (created entirely from treatments of the originals for authenticity) but also made up two totally new stereo rumble and bang tracks. And I lifted some pre-mixes from the surviving international M&E tracks to create loops. Brand new elements were created (again using the original sounds as a basis) for the LFE channel.
Three short bits of character vocalisation still eluded me, so I myself post-synchronised some dialogue, briefly playing two individual characters (I'll leave you to guess) and a crowd of teenagers in a gym.

An unbiased judgment there.
I fail to see any "liberties" being taken? It's an optional extra, are you forgetting this....

18th Jan 2007, 12:17 PM #71There wasn't a timing issue, there just wasn't much of use. People need to understand that the JNT collection isn't a vast treasure trove of wealth. In most respects it was almost wholly disappointing, with only a few little gems in there.
