TRAGIC ****** ALERT!!
I've still got my Fast Forward collection sealed in a box somewhere. Had it on order from the newsagent across the road until we moved to the middle of nowhere in February 1990. I'm sure my Neighbours sticker album/Radio Times:EastEnders Fifth Anniversary Issue and Smash Hits collection (1988-90) is in the same box. I was/am a sad bugger.

If you ever get the chance, go through all the 1990 issus and look for anything Kakko related.
You could make a fortune on the ebay.

Saw a snatch of one of the extras on my brother's copy - Adele Silva looks a bit skinny, but Lisa Bowerman was looking good.
That is all I have to contribute for now.

We enjoyed the DVD. I can't decide if I liked the fanny commentary or not. I thought they all tried a bit too hard to be funny and I didn't like the shoe horned new series references but it was addictive stuff and there was some amusing nuggets.

Sylvester has this for anyone who doesn't like Survival.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?
If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

I don't know, but if you don't like Battlefield he'll unleash his terrible 'something' on you.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I watched the extras this afternoon and enjoyed them all very much. Endgame was a very interesting and informative documentary, I was so totally encapsulated in it that I never looked at the clock once. Was interesting to hear people's ideas of how things could've progressed, and it made you feel sorry that the series ended when it did.

I've made a start on Disc One over the last couple of days - annoyingly, the production notes were on screen for far too short a time to actually read, so I missed half of them. I didn't think the picture quality on the episodes was all that either, so not the best of starts. Give me a VidFIREd story any day!
The continuities package was surprisingly nostalgic for such a relatively modern story, but then we are talking almost 20 years ago! The outtakes were quite interesting from a behind-the-scenes production POV, but not particularly funny in themselves.
Still got hours of extras to go through yet, and I get the feeling that this DVD, like The Leisure Hive for me, will be more loved for its overall extras package.

I've watched most of the extras so far and enyoed them all apart from the out-takes which I grew tired of very quickly!
Andrew Cartmel comes across as a very likeable chap, and seemed very enthusiastic about the series and sure of what he wanted to do with it. He's also weathered very well, hasn't he?
I particlularly liked the Anthony Ainley inserts from Destiny of the Doctors which I hadn't seen before.
