Default New Planet Skaro Audio - "Unknown Variables" Now online!

To ease the wait before the conclusion of our 2008 Doctor Who Audio Season next month, we have a special one-off treat for you - a brand new full cast audio adventure, set outside the world of Doctor Who!

    UNKNOWN VARIABLES
    by Steve Alexander

    "There's nothing out there..."

The colony on Tahneh has failed. In desperation the colonists have limped back to Earth, waiting out the long journey in blissful unconsciousness. But on their arrival, Commander Frank Raul awakens to discover that something has gone terribly wrong.

With only a skeleton crew revived from hypersleep, Frank faces a harrowing struggle to find solutions. Every attempt to move forward only results in increased paranoia and frustration amongst the crew, placing thousands of lives in jeopardy. Can old animosities be put aside for the good of the colonists? Who is keeping dangerous secrets from the rest of the crew? And are there really ghosts in the machine?

The crew find that the unyielding darkness of space will not give up its mysteries easily. And as the unknown variables mount up, they must find an answer before they are overtaken by chaos.

I can't wait to hear what Steve's done with that, and I love the idea of us doing the occasional none-Doctor Who audio, it gives PS a bit more of a Mercury Theatre on the Air feel. Though who is Orsen Welles?

Well the story does have an Asimov / Classic-style-SF vibe to it so a US accent did seem appropriate. Whether it's as good as Asimov you can make up your own mind!

    Starring:
    Frank Raul - Mike Talks
    Rick Coombes - Dave Tudor
Luke Harrington - Si Hunt (American)
    Kerberus - Ant Cox

I'm looking forward to this, and seeing if this is a direction for some PS audios. I like the idea of us doing occasional original work instead of just the Doctor Who stuff, and might even have my own "pitch" for something.

Although I'm sure I'll be reminded this is a Doctor Who forum rather than a general Sci-Fi one!

I guess that just about sums it up...

TBH I didn't really understand the story during the recording so I'm looking forward to hearing the finished article!

Ah, but you weren't in the last few scenes, were you?

    Not at all, Mike.

I want imaginery numbers. They're my favourites. Failing that a bit of calculus will do.

Looking forward to hering this! Though I'm not quite sure what my accent was supposed to be so I apologise in advance to the population of the south west of England. And possibly Australia.

I'd just like to point out that i canhardly make a word out of what's being said between 'I'll find out what's really happening', & 'processed crap'. It's a bit mumbly......
But, i'm also intriguied, & looking forward to it.

It is kinda strange though that you have genuine southerners in your ranks, & you're trying to get a northerner to do a London(?) accent....... (Sorry Dave)
