Should be good. It's funny, I can't remember a lot of the music from Series Three, but just so long as it features that song from 'Daleks In Manhattan' and the lovely 'Martha's Theme', then I'll be happy.

Well there is an established Murray Gold Soundtrack thread in the audio forum if you'd prefer it merged.

This would make an ideal Christmas Present for anyone with the letters 'S' and 'i' in their first name.
Except of course, for Missy Elliot.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Sorry, but that cover is bobbins. They've used the wallpaper from the BBC website - you can tell exactly where they've rubbed out the web address in the corner. Even I could do that, in five minutes. Infact, to prove my point:
Couple of little differences, but you get my point.

I think my brother would like it, but his name is MARTIN CURNOW, which has no S in it at all. So will he like it or not, I just don't know anymore.
I can't stand the confusion in my mind!!!!!!

That's a shame about the lack of theme tune & no 'hymns' from grid lock.

Abide With Me (the final track) is probably a hymn from Gridlock...

Oh yeah, missed that. I assumed that they were in some sort of episode order, I don't know why I did that. The last one wasn't.

There seems to be nothing from Lazarus or 42.
Abide With Me is indeed from the closing moments of Gridlock, as the Doctor finally opens up to Martha. It's a glorious hymn and good to see it included - though I would have liked To Be A Pilgrim too.

Its pretty good. There are more variations on a theme in this volume I feel but its all good stuff.
The lyrics for The Stowaway are interesting and I keep singing in my head. Its got a definite Fairy Tale of New Year vibe to it.

I'm very much enjoying this CD. At first I wasn't sure, I suppose because unlike last year where we'd had a while to get used to the stories and their scores it all seemed more familiar, this year I haven't seen the episodes nearly as much, so I didn't know the music.
In many ways this has been an advantage, because I'm just loving getting to know the lovely music better and I think that when I go back and watch the episodes again I'm going to enjoy hearing the familiar bits from the CD.
So what are the highlights for me? I really love Martha's theme. It's gorgeous and worth owning the CD for that alone- the variation at the end was good to hear too, and show's just how important it's been to the series. The whole section of music from Human Nature/ The Family of Blood is a real highlight too. Incredibly dramatic and moving- particularly the piece for Joan which makes me feel tingles down my spine. And the two pieces from Gridlock are great- Gridlocked Cassinis is one of the lighter moments on the CD and provides a nice contrast, while Boe is awesome, an epic reworking of the Face of Boe's theme from last year's CD. Great acoustic guitar work on it.
The Runaway Bride stuff is great fun, and I wish there was more, especially of the Gershwin inspired bits, but there's a nice contrast between the bits we hear on the CD of the loud brash chase music and the quiet reflective moments. It'll be interesting to hear how Donna's theme is reused next year.
The songs are OK. The Stowaway is very festive and as has been noed above like The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl. That's a good thing. I look forward to hearing how it's used at Christmas. Abide With Me provides a lovely melancholy ending.
I think I really like this CD!
