This soundtrack is awesome. Murray Gold did some great numbers for Series Three. Far superior to 1 & 2. Martha's Theme alone is angelic.

I've borrowed my brother's copy of this, and listened to the whole thing. I think it's actually brought home to me that, although I really enjoyed season 3, I'm not very familiar with it at all. Thinking about it, I've probably watched most of the episodes once only - so consequently a lot of the music doesn't have any great 'association' for me, unlike the previous album. So some tracks just seem like noise, and others like catchy noise! It was a good listen though, and Martha's theme is gorgeous.
Plus, the fanboy in me feels obliged to point out that "Abide With Me" includes the verse that contains the line "Change and decay in all around I see" as quoted in Kinda.

Some might like to know that 'The Old Rugged Cross' from Gridlock, a track that wasn't included on the Series 3 CD, is available to hear at the BBC website (Day 5 of their Advent Calendar). Rarity!

There's more on the way in the autumn apparently...
Doctor Who - The Specials - the latest in the line of music from the television series - has now been reported as being released on the 20th September 2010. No track listings have been made available as yet, but it will be a 2-CD boxed set of Murray Gold's music for the final four adventures of the Tenth Doctor.

If only The Specials were covering the music for The Specials. Sigh. That would almost be a lame joke.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

There are Murray Gold CDs?!?! Why... what? I'd rather listen to recordings of my own intestinal tract. From when I'm ill. I'd rather BE ill.

Really?!
These CDs are rather good actually. They're certainly on a par with most movie soundtrack releases. And the sheer amount of complex orchestral music that Murray writes for the show is very impressive.
I thought the main complaint that some people had about the music was that it was too loud in the mix and drowned out some of the dialogue?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Murray's music has never done anything for me either. It's very often far too over blown and unsubtle with far too much vocal stuff in recent years with various wailing voices at every opportunity.

not sure I agree with you on that i've got the soundtracks for all the first 4 series and when you listen to it as just a piece of music a lot of the stuff is very good. As for this up and coiming cd I'm a bit suprised it's not being issued as a specials/series 5 combination as I would of thought there wouldn't quite be enough music from the specials to put on one cd.

Andrew Lloyd Webber that's a lot of music!

The specials CD is rather good so far. I'm not so keen on the Planet of the Dead stuff, but the music from The Next Doctor was really rather fine. Much better and more distinctive than I remember it being.
Just got to The Waters of Mars, and aside from the running music, this is lovely, dark stuff.
