Default Doctor Who Reference Book Wars: Round 3

There's a whole starnd of Doctor Who reference books that look at the fictional world of the show, from The Monster books of the 70s to the Cyberman book that lok at the fiction of the show rather than the facts of making it/ reviewing it. This round is dedicated to them.

I went for Cybermen too, as it's the only one of the lot which I own. And very good it is too!

I went for Cybermen too, although Monsters is the only other ones of these I've got.

What about the Gallifrey Chronicles though (the hardback by John Peel, not the last EDA) ?

I've only got 2 of these, but tempted as i am to pick the 'Doctor Who and the Daleks Omnibus' for nostalgic reasons, i'm going with 'Cybermen' because it deserves it.

Same choice of two for me, same answer, same reason.

Ah yes... opps. Twenty minutes into the shopping I remembered I'd forgotten to include it. Well, luckily it's not much good anyway and so we'll just pretend it lost out, shall we?

The Cybermen book will be a worthy winner. It's probably my favourite Doctor Who book ever. The illustartions are indeed superb, it has a definitiveness about it which is ideal and I love the detail and the way they tied Cyber-history together.
I was almost tempted to choose The Adventures of K9 and Other Mechanical Creatures, which was a huge favourite when I was small. It was the very first Doctor Book I bought.

Logically I should vote for Cybermen as well, but my Doctor Who and the Daleks Ominbus was read and re-read so many times that it literally fell apart!

Cybermen will win, and deservedly so because it is a really thorough piece of work... so given that, I'll vote instead for the Terry Nation Dalek Special (that's the fourth one on the list, not the John Peel one) because I remember getting it as a kid (Christmas present from bruv I think) and really enjoying it.

Logic dictates that Cybermen is the most excellent book here, but purely for nostalgic reasons, I went for the Doctor Who Monster Book - I got a later edition of this for my tenth birthday, and absolutely loved it. I've still got it today, complete with photos and artwork coloured in in felt tip!

I think I must have got it around the same time Dave. I think it was the Christmas after my 10th birthday as my Mum and Dad had a bit of a spluge at The Who Shop which we visited to spend my birthday money that year. I didn't colour mine in though!
