The Reference Book Wars: Part 6
Sometimes the bext perspective on the show can come from the people behind or in front of the camera. This week's round celebrates those making of books and related books about specific periods of the show from those who made it.

Wayne and Ralph in "Golden Age" voting shocker there!
I didn't vote for that book, although it is pretty good overall. I went for Ace! It's really a good read- lots of insider knowledge from Sophie and Mike Tucker, lots of behind the scenes photos and a revealing look behind the scenes of the McCoy years. And far less annoying than the other look behind the McCoy years, Script Doctor, which does the era and its script editor no favours at all.

As usual, I've gone for the only book that I own, in this case The Companions.

I've gone for Ace!, as it tells the story of an era I really enjoy, and has a wistful, slightly melancholy air of a group of people trying their best and having a good time while doing so, but finding all their efforts to ultimately have been in vain. It's quite moving, and certainly a fascinating behind-the-scenes story, the first person like of which we probably didn't see as effectively again until this year's Writer's Tale.

I went for 'The TARDIS Inside Out', as it's the only one I've got (must admit, I'd forgotten I had it until I looked on my book shelf earlier!). It's not a particualrly good book, though, and I suspect the later books in this round are far better.

I've only ever read the two JN-T books - neither was all that impressive, but of the two the Doctors one was the better. I've never even laid eyes on the others, so rightly or wrongly I'm going for The TARDIS Inside Out.
