Default 5 Random Things You Love About New Who!

Ah... the old ones are the best. (At dying, as Dalek Sec might say.)

    1. Song for Ten - It may not be the greatest song ever, but in the context of The Christmas Invasion it was outstanding.
    2. The way the Daleks move back at the mention of the Doctor.
    3. That zoom-in shot of K-9 as he's being attacked by the Krillitanes. The wooden school floor makes me nostalgic too!
    4. The fact that we're 2 years in and we've only had ONE glimpse of the other TARDIS rooms. I'm salivating in anticipation!
    5. The alternate Universe Rose. I wonder if the two ever met?
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

    1) The Millenium Wheel/Fantastic scene ("What is it, what?") - I was actually thinking about this just tonight, and it makes me grin like a loon every time.

    2) The moment where Britney's Toxic kicks in in TEOTW, and fandom's jaw hits the ground.

    3) The fact that Little Miss told me off for NOT giving Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 10 out of 10 in DWM's Season Survey. "It's brilliant!" she pointed out. (Edited to Add: She made us watch both episodes again at teatime today - it's a hard life!)

    4) The final exchange between Dickens & the Doctor: "Forever". Just beautiful.

    5) The Doctor's reappearance behind Rose at the end of Father's Day: "Go to him, quick."

    1. That bit in the titles where the TARDIS stops, rotates, then zooms down the second time tunnel.

    2. The moment when Cassandra/Chip tells her past self - "You're so, so beautiful".

    3. Jackie in L&M - "Here I am, I've only known you five minutes and I'm flashing my knickers at you!". Actually I could probably fill this list up with bits from that story.

    4. Oh no, on then. The moment a stunned Sarah Jane is faced with the looming TARDIS!

    5. I hate to include something from this story because otherwise it's very pretentious, but the bit where the Doctor reads Reinette's letter and realises she's dead. She waited but he never came. Heartbreaking!

    1. The b#!&h-fight handbags-at-dawn between the daleks and the cybermen.
    2. "Doc-torrrrrr" "Impossible!" "THE Doctor!" (and I love the bit where the dalek looks down at its non-functioning gun - LOVE that!).
    3. The single dalek in "Dalek" destroying things and killing loads of people, rather than just shouting about it.
    4. The noise the cybermen make as they march.
    5. David Tennant showing me that you can fancy the Doctor and still be taken seriously by other DW fans.

    In chronological order :

    1) Rose's slo-mo run into the TARDIS in "Rose" leading to our first ever Next Time trailer

    2) The destruction of Big Ben

    3) The Doctor's first encounter with the Dalek in the bunker - the Doctor goes from compassion to fear to anger/hate in quick succession

    4) "Just for once, everyone lives!" Or words to that effect...

    4) Sarah seeing the TARDIS in the school at night - then backing away, turning around to see the Doctor - Tennant at his best here.

1: The sound of marching Cybermen.

2: The rotating gun platform on the new Daleks.

3: The beefed up opening theme (though I can't stand the orchestral closing theme used from The Christmas Invasion onwards).

4: Mickey going from a pointless cowardly prat ('Don't do it Rose, he's an alien, a-a-a... thing!') to a planet defender ('So, youre sending the Cybermen and the Daleks to Hell? Man, I told you he was good.')

5: The materialisation in Fear Her. 'Ah...'

Mostly it's the moments that got a huge reaction when watching it with the various housemates I've had these two years...

    1. Massive tense buildup to a not-quite-dead alien, which is revealed as... A SPACE PIG! Brought the house down.
2 'I call him Max', which was EXACTLY the sort of thing my then-roomate would have done. She agreed that Max is rather cute.
    3. Watching The Empty Child and somewhat paying it out with one mate who's already seen it and one who hasn't. Said Empty Child knocks spookily on Nancy's door, and the newbie pipes up with 'Quick, hide, it's your illegitimate children!'. Cue inventing a whole new look to convey the beauty of this...
    4. The feeling of 'WHAT are we watching here?' created roundabout the opening credits when one first witnesses Love and Monsters.
    5. The fact that I am completely unable to look at the black hole in The Impossible Planet without thinking of its resemblence, to, um... no, never mind. You don't want to know.
