I've seen the tracklisting of the album I highlighted, and I'm a bit dismayed to see it's basically the 2001 Echoes best of without Echoes on it and only one disc!
I've no idea if the Echoes double CD is being phased out, but it's still miles better value for money. But then the whole thing about this campaign is it'll be the last time to have CD's out before downloads (Nick Mason's thinking) and how the albums have been remastered to sound loud on current systems.
I'm interested in the Wish You Were Here box. That's a Christmas present sorted!

In other Floyd news Roger Waters finally makes it to Radio 4's Desert Island Discs on May 29th 11.15am.

The makers of Uncut magazine has made a Pink Floyd issue of their Ultimate Music Guide series.
    http://www.backstreet-merch.com/stor...sp?item=nme113

Mason and Gilmour joining Roger on his recent Wall show is mentioned in the introduction. Every album is reviewed. Every album review goes through track by track and marks them out of 5. Basically spoils the entire album by telling the reader what happens in each song. I've never seen Pink Floyd combed so throughly as the posts on this thread. They should have come to us!
It also contains all British Music Press interview stuff from 1967 onwards.
Writers, Neil Spencer, Jon Dale, Rob Young, Allan Jones, Stephen Dalton, David Cavanagh and David Quantick. (The Final Cut)

Everything you could ever want to know about Pink Floyd? Could be! All kinds of interesting little bits on there, by the look of it.

BBC FOUR IN MASSIVE PINK FLOYD NIGHT!

    Friday September 16th

9.30pm Which One's Pink? The Pink Floyd Story (Also 12.30am)
Which is a repeat of a documentary they had shown before.

    10.30pm
A PINK FLOYD MISCELLANY 1967-2005 (Also at 1.30am)
From Arnold Layne from 1967. (either the video for it, or the recently discovered Top Of The Pops performance) Right the way up to their Live 8 performance, with interesting stops along the way. Cymbaline from "More"! Grandchester Meadows from "Umma Gumma"! Basically, everything I could ever wish to see!

    11. 30pm LIVE AT POMPEII.

I don't know if you got the chance to see this film whilst you were all listening to the reissues in the box set, but it's got more moments of warmth than The Wall movie!

They can't scrap BBC Four now after doing this?

    BBC Four is still doomed!

Anyway, to celebrate the AMAZING Pink Floyd re-issues, it's time to get to the nitty gritty and ask the ultimate question:

What's the all time worst Pink Floyd song?

And how far Pink Floyd would of fallen if they didn't get Roy Harper to guest on Wish You Were Here album and used the original Roger Waters vocal?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgQRt...layer_embedded

Notice a lot of the overdubs I love on the track haven't been added yet.

And you must of heard about their 1974 attempt to make an album using household objects before Rick Wright argued this was an insane idea to follow on from Dark Side Of The Moon. Well from this clip, it actually sounds better than what Pink Floyd came up with in the 1980's!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t-cu70hYTs

Cool stepping from Dave Gilmour and bass of rubber bands on a box.

Also includes "The Travel Sequence" at 3.10. This was from the days when Pink Floyd played Dark Side Of The Moon on tour before they recorded it.
This part of the album would have been changed to On The Run.
It's pleasant enough and comes to life around 4.19.
I think Dark Side would of dated a bit if they used this instead of reworking the whole piece.

Although when even Pink Floyd use Household Objects it's still more warm and exciting than Roger's take on "Have A Cigar".

And thank you You Tube! I knew you wouldn't let me down when the sets are costing up to £100!!!

WHAT? You mean you'd rather not pay a Prince's ransom for Pink Floyd's off-cuts? For shame, Mr Sneed!

Apparently Tom Stoppard has written a play for Radio 2 starring Bill Nighy, which is based around Dark Side of The Moon.

    Freaky, man.

Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful.

Apparently 'Louder than Words' is the only song with lyrics/vocals. I wish there was more than that, but I'll take what I can get.

Well reviews have been mixed. NME and The Mail on Sunday have been the harshest with 5 for NME and 2 out of 5 for TMoS.
Q and Mojo have given it 3 stars, and Uncut so far the highest with 7/10.

A lot of them are basically saying "But it's an instrumental album?" which is pretty much the selling point of the damn thing!
I'm looking forward to it myself. But I do feel the Amazon pre-order record breaker audience, some might be setting themselves up for disappointment.
There's no way it can be that high in the pre-orders and please everyone. But given that the previous record holder was One Direction then er...

Anyway, it's out next week and a not-at-all-biased Pink Floyd site regarded it better than the last two post-Waters albums.

Although "Allons-y (1)" has bizarrely become available for sale on iTunes and Amazon.
With only a few days to go, I'd rather wait for the whole thing rather than a less than two minutes track!

3 Pink Floyd predictions apart from the obvious it goes to number one.
It lasts at least two weeks at the top.
It breaks all first week sales for this decade and the 2000's.
It sells more than "Black to Black" by Amy Winehouse.

I'll find out this Sunday if I'm right or not!

Obviously I didn't get all the predictions right!

My friend and I got tickets for "Roger Waters The Wall" and the fact we could still get VIP tickets weeks after they went on sale suggests they aren't flying off the shelves, so that will have the surreal of watching a documentary about a sold out stadium tour of "The Wall" in a neary empty cinema!
(Although true, there's always the last minute rush)

The link, again, to find your local participant. http://rogerwatersthewall.com/play.html

No!! It cannot be!! There was already a huge reissue! But this time it's different.
The price began at $700! On webpages that came broken by the morning. Last heard of with a disappearing Amazon page at a more reasonable £350. (Fall a little lower please!)

Big box "Pink Floyd: The Early Years 1965-1972".
And forgot it's name but a 2CD that goes from 1967-1972 which I feel is a swizz!

    a more reasonable £350
Well some would call that reasonable!

This looks absolutely horrendous. There is probably some amazing stuff on here but it looks like you'll have to wade through a heck of a lot of noodling to get to it.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Good News! The discs will be sold separately early next year!
PHEW!!! That's a massive load of my mind! I can't see myself buying every one, but there's at least three discs in that list I'd like to hear.
Also delighted that on the 2CD it ends with three songs from Obscured By Clouds.

Individual sales are far more sensible!

And hello to the forum! It's weird having nothing Doctor Who to talk about, isn't it?

Of course the real threat is that they might release a set featuring out-takes from Ummagumma.

Given that they've given utterly insane releases to everything from Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of The Moon, The Wall and others this doesn't seem so bad.

But like the Beatles Anthology series I think most of the stuff on here will be interesting to listen to once; not something you'll play every day.

I'm quite sure Roger Waters' agent and accountants would consider that to be more than reasonable...

Well parts of Umma Gumma and their More album were used with stuff from their first two albums to present a show called "The Man/The Journey" so not just Umma Gumma outtakes, but a live album of one of their scrapped as an album, but still performed to an audience projects.
It's the third track on disc 8. Still no idea how these will be individually released and if they do a disc each or a 2CD/DVD which you just know you are going to stare deeply at in your hands next year on one of those days it was safe to go outside!

£370 seemed reasonable compared to$700 which is pretty much the same difference in the end. Blame my bad maths!
Syd Barrett fabs are unhappy at paying for the box set exclusive of more Barrett footage.
Well I just hope we see the Fixture 60's footage of Syd with the band on Pink Floyd's official YouTube channel!
The 2CD Creation is the must buy of the deal for this year.
