I'm actually re-reading "Doctor Who - The Three Doctors" just for the hell of it. Being a terrible pedant, I'm reading the original version, rather than "Doctor Who And The Three Doctors" with its gloriously old/evil/welsh cover!

Currently reading the rather amazing "Wicked", and the cleverly viscious "Bad Men". Oh, and Joss Whedon's "Astonishing X-Men".

    Default "Wicked"

Yes, indeed it is. It's kind of intresting to see where Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) came from, not to mention a whole host of other well known Oz characters. I love the fact that she's not actually evil and twisted at all, but in a wolrd of complacency and compliance, a free-thinker such as her is opposed to the dictatorship of the Wizard. Thus she is made into a bad guy by the winning side... Great fun!

Also just ordered the Broadway Cast Recording of the musical version. Quite looking forward to it.

I must get round to reading Wicked. It looks intriguing and The Wizard of Oz is a great little book.
Am still reading 2001: A Space Odyssey

Oddly, never read the original Oz books, but from what Maguire says in his introduction the Oz books were full of contradictions, of places that seemed totally unaware of each other. "Wicked" goes to great pains to tie everything in Oz together, leaving you with a feeling of a world and not just a single place. But "The Wizard of Oz" is one of my favourite films of all time.

I'm halfway through War and Peace now. So I'm on the 'and'.

Actually, the War and the Peace has been pretty mixed up, with about 30% War and 70% Peace so far. Although I think I'm about to get to a big War section, as Napoleon has just taken his army across the border into Russia. What a naughty little dictator!

I'm about half way through Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman and enjoying it lots...It's very Gaiman-esque, but as long as it doesn't have a cop out ending like American Gods, I'll be very happy with it!

Anansi Boys is on my 'to read' list actually, unfortunately it has about 50 other books to contend with.

Yay! Anansi Boys and The Algebraist are probably my fave books of the last few years!

The Algebraist isn't too hard once you get used to half the characters being giant double-jellyfishes floating around in a gas giant. Though that may take a while.

Jonathan Franzen's 'The Corrections' and Amitav Ghosh's 'The Hungry Tide' both for my course. With my dissertation to read for too, I don't have time to look at any books for myself at the moment. I do like the Franzen text though!

I'm reading 'The Jaguar Knight' by Dave Duncan. It arrived as a free gift from the Fantasy & SF book club, and I thought I'd try it out. Never read anything by him before, so I look forward to seeing what it's like.

I am reading 'The Honourable Schoolboy' by John Le Carre - part of the 'Quest for Karla' trilogy, and the one they didn't film out of the three! Very good so far...
