I worked it out when I discovered he was playing Professor Yana.

ETA: The Sunday Times' 'Utopia' review seems to confirm the Episode 12 casting spoilers mentioned in my last post:

"After the brilliant weeping angels episode, this excellent series appears to have gone off the boil. Last week's story was simply treading water and building up towards this two part climax. Mcfly, Ann Widdecombe and Sharon Osbourne all guest, which should make any sensible adult hide behind the sofa."

Will there be a Widdecombe/Slitheen gag? Will she handbag Simm?

Lizo reviews 'The Sound of Drums':

    CONTAINS SPOILERS!!

    Is that in Ireland?

It looks like it's his last review this series.

Is it wrong to be excited about these cast members?

    Sharon Osbourne - Herself
    McFly - Themselves
    Ann Widdecombe - Herself

Don't know how much to make of this, but the Gallery on the BBC site for Sound of Drums has a picture of a lady next to John Sims saying 'The Saxons'.

Does that mean the Master has done the unthinkable for a timelord and got jiggerty with a laydee ?

    Lucy Saxon is hot stuff!

Alexandra Moen got her kit off in Five's Tripping Over.

'THE SOUND OF DRUMS': SOME MORE MAGAZINE SPOILERS!! (TV Times, TV and Satellite Week and Closer)

    TV and Satellite Week...
"But as the Doctor discovers to his horror, Saxon is in fact his longtime nemesis the Master, a renegade Time Lord who is controlling peoples minds through a mobile phone network. After Saxon wipes out the Cabinet and kills a prying journalist, he announces the arrival of an alien race, the Toclafane, who he has secretly enlisted to destroy the Earth. Armed with his own deadly sonic screwdriver and a stolen Tardis, Saxon then orders the police to hunt down the Doctor, Martha and Captain Jack, who face a desperate race against time as they try to prevent his plot to decimate the planet."

    From Closer...

"The Doctor is transformed into a feeble old man whilst billions of aliens are let loose..."

You can probably work out most of the plot from the spoilers above and some of those Fear Factor comments.

Doesn't surprise me, Eric Roberts got in bed with that poor woman in the TV movie, and snogged Grace, and Delgado seduced Pitt in 'The Time Monster'...

I'd do him, the silver tongued rogue.

Would it be reasonable to assume that...

...The Master changes the Doctor into John Smith, and kills the Doctor by destroying the watch.

Resulting in the severed hand regenerating into Tenth Doctor MkII

Or regenerating into the Eleventh Doctor?

    Bit unlikely, I'd say.

Looks like MissDeadline has finally been Busted:

    http://missdeadline.blogspot.com/200...octor-who.html

Luckily, Spoiled Rotten claims to have MAJOR MASSIVE QUITE BIG SPOILERS FOR 'THE SOUND OF DRUMS':
    http://spoiledrot.blogspot.com/2007/...-sound-of.html

    Can it be true?

ETA: Others who have seen the episode claim the above review also contains a few big fibs.

The usually reliable funky_peanut_pup returns to OG with their review of Episodes 12-13:

eps 12/13 sort of reviewed.NO real spoilers as far as I know

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just seen both this morning ( and not via preview tapes).I have no reason to believe they are online anywhere and even if I had a copy ( I don't) wouldn't know how to upload/download/share a file if my life depended on it so please don't send me 5 billion PMs asking for it. I'm a luddite when it comes to these things
I have been really busy this year and haven't seen that much of series 3 and haven't checked in here much so I have no idea what is generally known. Therefore comments will be even vaguer and more tantalisingly cruel than ever.

(just in case).Don't think I'm giving anything away but if you progress beyond here its your own fault.

Overall it follows the RTD formula for finales (IMO).The resolution to the cliffhanger is **very** RTD and had my heart in my boots but thankfully the ep picks up pretty quickly.Episode 12 is mindblowing and 13 is weaker( which, for me, mirrors the last 2 series)
I was never a huge fan of John Simm or the Master but will have to buy a hat in order to eat it.He rocks!!!!easily steals every scene he is in..funnyfunny funny!what a great villain he has become. He is electric on screen and when he isn't in scenes I wanted to get him back.
    comments/cruel hints/appetite whetters follow:
a scene from the Sea Devils gets a 21st century update
    UNIT is namechecked
there are nods to Captain Scarlet,Phantasm,Shada ( I *think*),Teletubbies and loads more..
It all started when he was 8
There is a throwaway reference to Tom that was so audacious I laughed out loud
The Doctor's "other appearance" blew me away..took me a while to work out who the actor was.Amazingly convincing!!
CGI is for the most part excellent
    Freema is better than usual
( all personal reactions- your mileage may vary)
on the whole much better than what I've seen of season 3- but I have seen very little of season 3
I won't say any more because
" if I told you the truth your hearts would break"( is that some sort of clue?

trust this remains obscure.I've tried to give zero spoilers and genuinely made an effort not to ruin it for anyone. My reasons for this post are
    1) gloating like a pathetic child
    2) whet the appatite in my usual way.
If this crosses any kind of boundary mods feel free to edit/delete.
    see you next year
    funky_peanut_pup

PS wait to see it properly. It genuinely is worth it.

The ITV Teletext review isn't too promising (Page 133).

Lazy plot devices, John Simm hamming it up as Saxon and:

"As we get a glimpse of their home planet, the Doctor explains they were comrades as young Time Lords.

"I thought you were going to say he was your secret brother ," says Martha. "You've been watching too much TV," says the Doctor, breaking the hearts of message board speculators everywhere."

    We're doomed!!

I've been waiting for an OG Civil War for a while, maybe it could outdo the legendary Time War!
One Day, I shall come back, Yes, I shall come back,

Good spot from this dude on OG last month:

Is this a link to ep 12, 13 which RTD has said (according to DWM) will have "somewhat nautical elements"?
It's the new "Bad Wolf", "Torchwood", "Saxon".

I think if it's to do with anything, it's probably more to do with the Christmas special, as the White Star shipping line built the Titanic. Their great rivals were Cunard, although both companies merged in the thirties as they were both on the verge of going skint.

    Facts!

Can we start the Christmas Special/Season four spoilers thread yet?
