I think they're doing it to wind the fans up, because they must surely know by now that every single word is pored over. It'll be the Abbot of Amboise and the Bandrils next!

Perhaps, but who ever seriously expected the Macra to return?

Me, I did. Back in 2004 when the series was announced I wrote:

"I think the Macra will probably come back too! Lol. And there'll be too much music, the TARDIS will be too big and Cilla Black will be the companion."

The last one will come to fruition next year.

We all know Cilla died back in the 1960s at the hands of Professor Bonham.

I'm interested in the revelation that the specials end with a two-parter, which will obviously be transmitted in quick succession - maybe Christmas Day 2009 and New Years Day 2010?

They were ony brought back so that RTD could retcon the whole Doctor-comtting-genocide-of-an-indigenous-species-to-protext-the-lovely-invading-humans aspect of the original

If that's true, then we can expect to see a LOT of old monsters soon. Like at the end of part one of Dimensions in Time.
