I don't know he has got big shoes to fill.

Do you think Matt really knows what he has gotten into?

I'd like to think he's been warned not to go anywhere near OG. He may be a superb actor (I certainly hope so) but at 26 I don't think he's thick-skinned enough to laugh off the probable slagging off he'll be getting from some quarters.

Did you enjoy the rest of tonight's Dr Who Confidential, with the old clips?

Yes but more Colin and some better quality 60s clips would have been nice.

"The Bill". Although we hardly ever watch it because there aren't enough hours in the day. We did watch it on New Year's Eve actually and it was very good. They get some good actors in it.

    "New Beginnings" boxset for ?12.

Mind you, that was a couple of years ago now...

Is "Sick Building" one of the best New Series novels yet?

It is - having hated Scarlet Empress back in the day, I find myself liking Paul Magrs work more and more. Even if the Voracious Craw sounds very like the guy who used to threaten Penelope Pitstop on a regular basis!

What crumb of comfort can you offer to somebody who's miserable that he's back to work tomorrow after the Christmas break?

Some of us have gone back already.

Do you think Grand Moff Moffatt* should carry on with a companionless Doctor once Matt takes over/have a companion in place for when he arrives?

Oh, definitely keep a companion on.

Me too! Although I was half expecting Mrs Tiermann to be Iris Wildthyme in disguise.

And yes, I hated The Scarlet Empress too.

Do you think they will remodel the TARDIS console room in 2010, or we will at least see more of the interior?

Press Gang, but that's mostly based on vague fond memories.

Seeing as the media tell us that all Doctor Who fans are obsessed with looking into the future, who do you think should succeed Steven Moffat as showrunner? (And who should be the 27th Doctor when the show is revived a fourteenth time in 2874?)

I don't know it needs a showrunner as such - it's all fine & dandy to have the head writer also working as executive producer, but it's not essential. As it happens, RTD seems to always work that way, and ditto Moffat nowadays (ie, Coupling) but I think the show could do equally well with a superb head writer and a superb producer; they don't need to be the same man/woman.

Although that's kind of dodging the question, because I can't name either a superb head writer or superb producer who would fit the bill.

    Can you?

Charlie Brooker and the people who made "Dead Set"? No idea who or what will be around in 2874, we'll probably be going back in time to tape the original shows and then hand them into the BBC in 2010!

Is Morrissey better solo or with the Smiths?

I didn't know he was in the Smiths, but he was bloody good in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

    Austin Powers or Dr Evil?

Dr Evil purely for the "You gonna cry? You gonna cry? You gonna cry?" bit!

Yes, if they were designed to be a trilogy from the outset (LOTR springs to mind).

No if they're just a desperate attempt to cash in on an unexpectedly successful film (e.g. Die Hard, the Alien films, Terminator and <shudder> the Highlander movies )

Tuesdays and Thursdays I work at Birch Hill library. I like both those days, thoygh often Tuesday shades it in my affections as it's the start of the wroking week for me and I'm still full of enthusiasm for work then. But Thursdays are the day the book group meets (once a month) and I genuinely love the meetings, so, ermm. I'll say Tuesdays and hope that that I'm right.

Well, the longest I have ever gone is two weeks, when we went to Padstow on holiday for a week and subsequently to my gran's for another week.

How big is your non-Who DVD collection?

Would that be including Jonathan Ross? Apart from Doctor Who, I wouldn't miss it that much if it weren't for commercial TV being even less entertaining.

Yes. I don't use mine very much as it is, but it is useful for those times when you're not at home.

What TV series would you like to see released on DVD that hasn't been already?
