Hmm, I haven't seen him in anything at all and know nothing about him.
I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

First impressions, having never seen anything with him in -
OMG! He's younger than meeeeeeeee!
Needs to work on his interview skills, otherwise those commentaries will be painful.
The hair needs to GO!
Did I mention he's younger than me?!
I'm pleased they've gone for a relative unknown.

It's exactly what you want - someone with some experience, but is still not a huge star... someone who seems humble... someone who is good looking in an odd way (if you arn't female or gay then shut up)... a young man to tackle the 9 month schedule but who is still sort of tall and ungainly... a bit younger than Tennant so not too similar...
Yesterday I stared at his photo when he was mentioned and for ten clear seconds wondered "Is this the Doctor? Could this be the Doctor?" and was undecided. On watching that final flash zoom from Tennant to Smith... I think he'll be fine.

Okay...
It has taken me this long since the announcement to calm down and stop ranting enough for me to sit down at my computer.
Now then...
I simply REFUSE to believe that the BBC have cast a spotty oik held together with hair gel and wishful thinking in the most important role in television.
I am very angry and will very probably continue being very angry for quite some time. Christopher Eccleston only lasted one year. Let's hope it happens again. For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.
...Oh, who am I kidding?

Probably best to give him a chance before we take arms and march on Cardiff!
I think it's a really good choice, I'm pleased.

I could well have met him, which is... odd. He was in the year above me at the same university, and did creative writing. If he was in the creative writing society, then I almost certainly have met him. He does look familiar, thinking back, but I would think that, wouldn't I?

Oh my!!
Blimey they didn't half drag that out!
Matt Smith is the Doctor! He's the same age as my little brother!
I don't know if it's my natural optimisim kicking in or something, but I was rather impressed with how he came across in that interview, and I can see some qualities there that will make for a fine Doctor- especially the finger waggling thing which was brilliant. The last shot after the monatge of Doctors just seemed so right to me.
I don't think he's going to be a popular choice though with some fans. But as always I'm going to wait and see until we see him in action next year.
Si xx
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

From what I've seen on DWC... i don't love Doctor Who anymore.
He seems like a lumpy-faced posho gap-year student. I can't imagine him going head to head with The Master or Davros. The clips of him in other things seemed amazingly unimpressive.
I'd just started watching the repeats of Casanova when David Tennant was announced and he just had it, i totally approved of him despite loving Christopher Eccleston.
But i don't get the same feeling from the new guy. I'm not at all excited and I can't really see myself buying the 11th Doctor DVDs.
Maybe Ant & Dec will be there to make my Saturday nights.A revolution without dancing, isn't one worth having
