New Matt Smith Interview on the BBC!
Matt Smith, the young actor set to take on the mantle of the 11th Doctor in Doctor Who, speaks to Razia Iqbal in Cannes about Whomania and how he makes a mean spaghetti bolognese.

The more I hear and see him, the more I feel he's going to be very special.

The headlines tonight - "New Doctor Who Matt Smith says he likes Cannes, but isn't going to talk about Doctor Who at all." And - "BBC faces accusations that primetime news bulletins are being hideously dumbed down with celebrity gossip and plugs for other BBC programmes."

Hold the front page - "Zbigniev Hamson still deeply cynical!"
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I think it was exciting because Matt hasn't done that many interviews yet. Which might be because there's not really anything to interview him about!

Haven't they started production yet? Can't be too far off. I'm sure pre-prod has started on the first Matt Smith season, which means that somewhere out there people are carefully sculpting guns and new Zarbi costumes.... exciting!

Matt Smith is already doing lovely things:
Dr Who star Matt Smith leads search for bone marrow donor to help young friend who grew up on his street
Matt Smith said: 'Matthew and I grew up in the same street in Northampton just three houses apart. Although he is younger, we both played ball games in that same street but his was a rugby ball and mine a football. We both went to the same junior school and secondary school and we even share the same name. Matthew is such a kind, intelligent and fun-loving young man and so it is extremely important to me, personally, that he has all the support and help he deserves with his current illness. He desperately needs a compatible bone marrow donor and I would ask you please to support him by taking a simple saliva test to see if you are the one who may be able to help him.'

Wasn't sure where to put this, but there's something thats been bothering me about Matt Smith since he started playing the Doctor and I've finally worked out what it is.
He struggles to pronounce his 'th' sounds.
Think is pronounced a bit like 'fink' and other words that start with 'th' are the same.
You listen next time. Its evident in the "Something in a trap" speech. Either that or I'm mad.

I'd not noticed that before Paul. But I possibly will do now.

I could be wrong. He doesn't say it in a common way, its more like he has a lisp.

I do that. I can't pronounce the TH sound either.

Nothing wrong with that, as I said to Captain Bacofoil as we invaded Neasden with our army of twelve-foot jelly babies last night. Today Neasden - tommoroow, Pinner!
Back to the point, and yes there was one: what about Pertwee's impediment? Nowt wrong with that! And I have a slight problem with "fr"; it almost comes out as "fur" when I say it. Furobisher the penguin. Now you know why I don't count The Holy Terror as canonical!

Matt Smith is very popular with my neice and nephew.
In a straw poll, Luke has decided he likes the new titles because the lightning attacking the TARDIS is really cool (and funny) and the new theme is OK because, he reckons it's a bit scary and it should be scary.
Oh and Amy Pond is apparently his favourite companion ever.

Having been really unimpressed with them in week 1, I now really like them too! Even the oddly untuneful build up bit at the very start. I even like the DW logo bit, which I'd hated when it was revealed.
Maybe I'm mellowing with age...

I love the way the TARDIS is tossed around like a pinball, I just wish that more opportunities were taken to 'link it in' with the story. In "The Eleventh Hour" the TARDIS took off, then we got the titles. Couldn't it have spun "into" them? Likewise how cool would it have been in "Utopia" if the TARDIS in the titles had a little Captain Jack clinging to it? Someone isn't taking up these glorious chances.
