Vine fronted a huge list of shows, including It's A Knock Out, Miss World, the Eurovision Song Contest, Wimbledon, Match Of The Day, Grandstand and the Olympics. He also hosted A Question Of Sport and Ski Sunday.
I mainly know him from hosting Ski Sunday & also Snooker for the BBC.
They had a minutes silence before play today at the Masters.

    This is a great shame.

    R.I.P David.

    Oh, that's sad news!

I remember him fondly from my childhood, mainly from AQOS.

I'd always assumed he was older than that, though!

Sad to hear that, his voice was always comforting somehow.

Heard this on the radio on the way home, very sad. Mr Snooker, he was one of those wonderfully warm & enthusiastic BBC Sports guys. RIP,

the old sports commontaters from the 1970's /80's are still IMO the best and David Vine, was certainly one of them

I've just realised that earlier I was getting him confused with David Coleman - that's why I assumed he was older than 73!

Saying that, it's definitley the Snooker which I remember him from the most.

    RIP David.
