I might be wrong here but my impression was that the Doctor never went anywhere...the whole 'gentle gymnastics' was a visual representation of their battle of the minds, similar to the 'mind fight' that Tom & Morbius have.

Even i think that scene's a bit crap.

What's next? Oh. Carnival of Monsters. Not really a fave.

    Anyone?

    Carnival of Monsters

The part one cliffhanger is awesome. I think it's one of those marvellous Doctor Who-ey endings where the first time you see it you're left thinking WTF?! After an episode where there are two unrelated stories going on, you suddenly get this moment of sheer surreality and it's great! I couldn't wait to see part 2 back in 1981.

I like the bit of black humour where Vorg says to Shirna "put your finger on that will you". She puts her finger on a switch and gets an electric shock. "Just wanted to check that was the live one!" replies Vorg.

I think it's my turn to step in and say something good about Frontier in Space.

I do like the spaceship bits in Parts 1 & 2. When watching it with a friend of mine last week (who has never seen Classic Who before), he said it was "very Star Trek". And he's right. It has a big space-opera feel to it, and the constant change of location not only keeps it fresh and keeps you guessing what will happen next, but also it gives the story a real "open" feeling, in that you're very aware it isn't in an enclosed space, like other clasics such as Caves of Androzani or Genesis of the Daleks.

I also like the Earth Officials' costumes.

My favourite bit in Frontier In Space is the moment where Jo stands up to the Master's efforts to hypnotise her and resists him successfully. A brilliant moment of sheer defiance from her, which was greeted by irritated but gracious defeat by the Master. Delgado is on top form throughout this story, and provides another great moment:

MASTER: It must be them. No other ship would be on a course for Earth.

OGRON PILOT: We are on a course for Earth.

MASTER: Well naturally because we're following them, you-!

Considering it's supposed to be a turkey, it seems to be producing some great moments - can I just add mine, which is in part 1 where the Doctor & Jo open their cell door just as the spaceship guard comes in. The Doctor, caught in the act as it were, says "Oh how embarassing" which I think is just hilarious.

Plus I also like the Master, when without any trace of irony he declares, "My strength is as the strength of ten, Miss Grant, because my heart is pure."

My favourite part of Planet of the Daleks will be seeing the new, shiny recoloured Episode 3.

    A bit obvious, but...

I think my magic moment for Planet of the Daleks is the moment in which the Dalek Supreme arrives on Spiridon. Okay, the spaceship looks a bit rubbish, but the build up to the gleaming black and gold Dalek moving down the ramp and Jo's shocked reaction is great.

The Dalek Supreme looks very impressive, and it's subsequent ruthlessness with the section leader is a chilling moment that shows how ruthless the Daleks are, even with their own kind. I particularly like how panicked the section leader gets when he starts saying 'This was a matter beyond my control!'.

    I am one with Martin.
Not only have you isolated my favourite moment of this story, but for whatever it says about me, the beginning of my complete fascination with the Daleks.

I think most people would claim the Doctor driving off into the sunset with a tear in his eye as a favourite Green Death moment.

I rather like the episode 1 'rehearsal' for the above, where the Doctor refers to the fledgling flying the coop (or whatever it is).

Mind you, my absolutely favourite moment of the story, although it's hardly what you'd call magical, is the Brigadier's gleeful pronouncement: "Just what the world needs - cheap petrol and lots of it!"

Or how about the BOSS humming various bits of classical music?

    The Time Warrior

Two possibles for me - one when SJS is still convinced she's landed at some medieval theme park, and is about to get all 'feminist arse kicking' on the staff, the other being the scene where Bloodaxe suggests that Irongron has indeed a towering intellect - the look on David Daker's face

Surely the magic moment in this story is:

    "Mwwwwrrrrrooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhmmmmmmmice!! !!!"

I thought that or "Argh! Claps the ears?" or whatever he says.
No, it's strong feminist Sarah Jane Smith going "Look at that huge spider!"

Obviously getting into practice for the end of the season!

I think the quote is "...a longshanked rascal with a mighty nose"; that's one of my favourite bits - and "I would have thought he's a bit old for that sort of thing!"

    Invasion of the Dinosaurs
I know it's not one of the all time great sequences, but I love Pertwee putting on his cockney accent and shouting "it was you- yer the nark wot grassed" and the whole escape where he tries to steal the jeep only to find it's the detention centre transport anyway. Lovely little sequence that!

I haven't seen it for a while (several years in fact), but isn't there a moment in that story where the Doctor walks into UNIT's temporary headquarters looking utterly exhausted and defeated, head in hands, because nothing seems to be going right? The Brig says he'll need to get authority to do something and the Doctor sighs 'then get it'. Perhaps not a magic moment, but certainly a memorable one, as I don't think the Doctor had ever looked so thoroughly dejected as he did at that moment.

    Death to the Daleks
The ambush by the Exillons where they all jump into a pit that looks like it was dug 10 minutes ago by a couple of YTSs.

The night scenes in episode 1, and Bellal's pulsing veins (careful!)

And I don't see what people's problem is with Jill. But then she's a redhead...
