My eyes hurt!
12. Robot
And don't think I haven't noticed "The Moonbase" cruising at disturbingly high altitude in your chart either, mister.

I know. It's the Traken drag factor at work I'm afraid- one story being terribly average among all the entertaining gems.

I'm surprised to see season 5 doing quite well - didn't the backward watching crew find that one a bit of a drag.
And poor old season 1!
I can see I shall have to extract my digit and start doing mine. To the secret lab!!

Ah! My bad.
Just to add that i'm fully aware that my list isn't totally fair in some ways, But there are so many different ways of looking at these things, & at the end of the day my favourite period of Who is 1970 to 1977.
For example, I know that 'Tomb' is a better Cyber story than 'Revenge', but if i was going on a desert island, & had to choose between the two, I'd choose 'Revenge' because if i had to make the choice, i'd rather watch something from my favourite era, even if it's one of the not so good ones.
I know that doesn't make sense, but there it is. That's how i worked out my list. I didn't base it on an objective look at each story, It's just blatant favouritism!Last edited by Wayne; 14th Apr 2009 at 10:29 PM.

I think that's the best way to approach it Wayne. The stories I gave 10 to are the ones I've enjoyed more than any of the others. Some people might not think they're the best Doctor Who has to offer, but for me they're the ones that mean the most. Hence why Seasosn 17 and 16 scored so highly in my ranking.

I shall be doing the same - I don't think I could even begin to rank them on some kind of objective excellence. And if I did I suspect most of my favourites would end up languishing near the bottom of the pile.

OK - here's my top 20
Talons of Weng Chiang (go on, say you're surprised )
Blink (sorry Si )
Robots of Death
Deadly Assassin
Caves of Androzani
Ark in Space
Rise of the Cybermen / Age of Steel
Pyramids of Mars
Terror of the Zygons
Dalek
Curse of Fenric
School Reunion
Web of Fear
Fury from the Deep
The Five Doctors
Revalation of the Daleks
The Time Warrior
Spearhead from Space
Horror of Fang Rock
Gridlock (hell that surprised even me)
In terms of Doctors
4th (6.56) , 5th (6.15) , 10th (5.61) , 9th (5.46) , 3rd (5.5)
For seasons
14 (7.83) 13 (6.67) 10 (6.6) 12 = 26 (6.5)
I suspect I'm too mean with my marks (I had only 2 10s) and doubt I'll send them in to DWM as it will only legitimise a survey where a large proportion give any story they vaguely like 10/10Bazinga !
