My view is that you should give the stories you like least 1, the ones you like most 10, and then rate everything else relative to that - as Si has done in fact. There's no point ranking everything out of 10, then not using both ends of the scale.

Quite right. Besides, you know there are going to be some 'people' out there who will rate your favourite story with a 1 or a 2. It's all about ensuring your vote has maximum effect, rather than say giving every story an 8. As they're working on averages, that won't change the result at all!

What i don't like about the way Si (& Paul) have done it is (for example) that if you look at it in terms of rankings, there are 4 stories that tie for first place with 10, & then 44 stories that tie for second place, & so on......
We don't know if Si likes 'Marco Polo' better than 'Turn Left', or 'The Stones of Blood' better than 'Partners in Crime', or whatever.

I'll leave you to ponder that Wayne.
I didn't do it mostly because it's very, very difficult to put stories in order of preference. But you can reats assured that my absolute favouritest story is City of Death and my absolutely stinkiest story is Blink. (or maybe when I'm calmer, Planet of Evil)
Si xx

I know what Wayne means when he says "What i don't like about the way Si (& Paul) have done it is (for example) that if you look at it in terms of rankings, there are 4 stories that tie for first place with 10, & then 44 stories that tie for second place, & so on...... " but I have found it just impossible to rank every story in order. It's taken me a lot of dithering to group them in 1-10!!
I haven't applied much science to this, it's simply down to which stories I enjoy watching, which I don't. So whatever its objective merits, or perceived quality, or whatever, I've based this simply on my personal tastes. So if I'm going to sit down and watch a story, I'd prefer a 10 over a 9, a 7 over a 6, and a 2 over a 1. There are also some which, although I'm happy to waffle on about in a general sort of way, I don't know nearly well enough to vote on. I was actually surprised to see quite a few stories under this heading, so I may well start searching out some of these - it's actually quite nice to think there's so much Who that would be 'as new' to me!
So without further ado...

So, was the Romans a 2 or a 3, eh? And given that the Rescue warrants a 9, will you be buying the box-set (if you haven't already!).

I think you should jolly well give the Romans another go, before you get a jolly good smacked bottom!
