    Default Charlie Drake

    Charlie Drake has died.

I haven't seen him in anything for a long time, but he was just one of those names from my childhood (along with Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe, etc, etc) who always seemed to be around. Arguably, only Eric Sykes is now left of a whole generation of comic legends.

Not sure, Si - I know he did "My Boomerang Won't Come Back" but I don't know what else.

Charlie Drake was a true comedy legend, as Andrew says only Sykes now remains of that generation of comedians. Drake was from a different age, his brand of comedy has dated badly, but, when I was growing up he was on TV all the time, appearences at The London Palladium, guesting on other peoples shows, but his sit-com The Worker will be what he is most remembered for.
As for his musical output, the novelty songs like Mr. Custer, Puckwudgie, Glow Worm and My Boomerang Won't Come Back, are comedy genius.

    R.I.P Charlie Drake.

Why has no-one mentioned the Planet Of Giants tribute*, "Professor Popper's Problems"?

Great theme tune, sung of course by the man himself.

To be honest, it was only because I couldn't even begin to remember the title, Dave! It also had a very young Tucker in it, didn't it. I seem to recall that the credits were blackboard sketches, but I can't remember this theme tune at all. Maybe if you could whistle a few bars?

So I'll stay just as I am
