Default DOCTOR WHO - BLOOD MONEY

This Saturday, beginning a brand new season of audio stories beamed from Planet Skaro to your PC...

Our season begins on Earth in the future. The Doctor (Paul Monk) intends to show Nick (Dave Tudor) and Rob (Steve Alexander) the glorious destiny of the human race... but when the trio step out onto a battlefield, it's clear that something has gone terribly wrong...

    --

Blood Money begins our season with something of a traditional story, albeit one with a bit more grit and shrapnel than usual! "[The story] came about due to my wanting to do some sort of sequel to The Paradise Machine," reckons Martin Penny, writer of both adventures. "I was also keen to set a different tone for this story. The future as presented in the previous story had been somewhat fantastical, with something sinister at it's core - but the story itself had been rather comical in tone. In contrast to this, Blood Money became a much darker tale, of war, politics and economics, with no character truly being right or wrong in their actions."

The story also features the welcome return of forum favourite The Baron of Boralis (from The Paradise Machine and Many Happy Returns) and the devious Tor Garane, voted Favourite Villain in the self-indulgence that was The PS Audios Season 2 Poll recently. What gave Penny the idea to bring back the husky voiced creation, whom he also voices?
"I always planned to bring Garane back as a recurring adversary for the Doctor," Penny whispers, a shadow mysteriously falling over him. "And in this story I planned to develop his character and really show what makes him tick."

And the Baron? "Pip Madeley had only been given a few lines as the Baron, and I wanted a story that would give the Baron something more to do - as he seemed to prove a popular character," Penny explains, before wrapping his legs round his head and jogging up the wall. With both characters proving popular previously, but here given much stronger focus amid a very dangerous situation for our three TARDIS travellers, Blood Money will certainly prove to be a rollercoaster of a story with which to kick things off this year!

The story debuts on-line this Saturday, 16th May and is free to download. It also stars Antony Cox as Emporor Narl, Jonno Simmons as Captain Kane, Simon Hart as Nathanial Westbridge and some cad called Si Hunt as Grath.

Check back here on Saturday and download it! And find out just what's happening to the Earth in the far future and why only the Doctor can stop it!

It's a shame that our large Dalek fanbase will be unable to see it.

In reality, Si said "ARE YOU TRYING TO RUIN ME?! THINK OF THE INK COSTS, WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE INK COSTS?"

I should add that Si made a valuable contribution to this cover by suggesting the writing should be in white - not in black as I originally envisaged. Having altered it I could see he was right.

I think that's a valuable lesson we could all take home from this.

Fab looking cover, although it'll get through some magenta cartridges that will.
Very much looking forward to this season. I'll be doing the full season pre-order thing as soon as details are up.

Well at least the white text will save a bit on the ink costs

Cheers guys. I've been thinking about this story, and I think it's actually my favourite of Martin's storys to date, and a big leap on from "The Paradise Machine". As well as old characters, there are some excellent new ones created and I think you'll all really enjoy meeting them!
