    Default Gold-en Years

It's fair to say that Murray Gold has treated us with some fantastic pieces of incidental music over the last few years, up there with with the very best music created for Doctor Who in my book... so what's your favourite nugget of Gold? See what I did there? Am clever, me. I wanted to do a poll for this at first but there's so many pieces it would be impossible to whittle them down. And please feel free to use YouTube to show us which music you mean

    Here's mine:

This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home

Aside from the theme tune, the most EPIC piece of music Doctor Who has ever had. It's such an emotive piece, it feels so sad but yet so hopeful... but always beautiful - 1:47-2:27 had me almost teary eyed a moment ago. The clock-like rhythm is also genius, fits the theme so well.

    Murray's finest moment.

Well, that really is my favourite piece of Murray Gold's music, too - undoubtedly the best thing that he's composed

I'm sure it has a name, but don't know if off the top of my head, but...

Probably my favourite Murray piece is the music used at the end of The End of the World - from where Rose is looking out on the remains of the planet floating in space onwards. It got reused on the BBC site in the run-up to season 2, and then again during New Earth (I think) which to my mind made it a bit overused and too familiar - but that first time, at the end of episode 2 as the two new friends watch & talk of the end of worlds, it's just awesome.

I like the "Doomsday" music when Rose was trapped on the other side of the rift. I reckon give it ten years and a whole generation of people on Channel 4 talking heads show will be clumsily describing the effect that sequence had on them with misty eyes.

I like it when he tried things that are a bit quirkier, so Gridlocked Cassinis is a bit of a favourite of mine.

I also really liked the regeneration music in The Parting of the Ways.

I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

Great choice Duncan - that's probably my 2nd favourite That scene at the end of 'Girl' is so much better for that music.

Oh, I totally agree on that. The reveal of the spaceships name with that music playing over the top is just superb.

I watched Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords a couple of days ago and the music all the way through is stunning!

I loved Martha's theme from the moment I first heard it. Plus all the choral stuff used for the Daleks.

It's the 'Father's Day' stuff for me - simple but very effective

All the Strange, Strange Creatures for me.

It just sums up everything the programme has become, so very, very well.

My favourite piece of music used to be Doomsday because it was such a good episode and the music was just right for the scene. But now it's Song of Freedom, the music used when the TARDIS tows the Earth home it is just fantastic.
I hope what I just wrote made sense, it did when I was thinking it.
