well I think he'd be fine to have a part as a guest actor but certainly not the main role ..

God, please, NO!
As Paul said, he's an awful actor, so even a guest spot would be bad!

Jack Davenport sounds o.k. I like Marc Warren or David Morrisey.

If he were, think we can guess that he'll be forced to regenerate by either a giant kitten or the shock of having to do This is Your Life again.

Mark Gatiss would make a fantastic Doctor (though I gather he's got a role in season 3 anyway). I'd also quite like to see Simon Pegg in the role, but suspect I may be in a minority there. Bill Nighy...lovely, and rather Hartnell-esque, which would be interesting, but his age would be against him, what with all the running around that the Doctor has to do nowadays.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it (probably) , but I fear Hugh Grant may be in the running. According to reports, he turned down the Ninth Doctor role and regretted it. Now he is in talks to play a baddie in Series 4, which sounds a bit premature to me. Now if DT is leaving halfway through Series 4, Hugh may have been given another chance and the "baddie role" could be a cover story.

God no, not Hugh Grant. I'd rather have Russell Grant than him.

Hugh Grant?? I hadn't considered him, mainly becasue I thought he was too big a star to be doing a quirky cult TV series, even if its seen as a national institution by some.
Hmmm...really not sure if he'd be right for it. It'd be interesting though! I'm trying to remmeber whether he was any good in his short appearance in that 1999 children in need skit.I must admit, just when I think I'm king, I just begin!

He had a good line- the "look after the universe- I've put a great deal of work into it". I can see that in a year or two he might be up for a break from romantic comedies, and Who would allow him to do that without moving too far away from his dashing-but-slightly-caddish image.

Oh dear - Hugh Grant would be a biiiiiig mistake!
He's a good actor but unfortunately he only ever plays one type of character; i.e. the posh English buffoon. I can't see a successful Doctor being played like that.......

Well it's never been done before & it really depends on the writing & direction.

I actually think that favourite, Michael Sheen would be very good. A sort of slightly geeky timid kind of Doctor.

I'd rather have David Walliams, but only just.
Where's James and his 'R.T.D is making Doctor Who too Gay with his Gay agenda' comments?
