They're probably even more defective if they've all been laid out on the carpet as shown in that photo. That's no way to treat DVDs!

    HAPPY 50TH BRITHDAY THE AVENGERS!!!

Maybe I should have made a thread about it, but I just wanted to say happy birthday to the show.

BBC Four repeats? Not holding breath...
I admit, I don't know as much about the show as I do about Doctor Who.
But I realise it was a wonderful show and it's progression from gritty crime drama to... whatever it became is one of TV's most interesting series!

Isn't this the one where they don't have subtitles, but bizarrely, the earlier DVD releases do? If so, I think I may have to look for the older DVDs....

For those that might not click on the bargains thread, The Hut have the complete 50th anniversary box set for £59.95 as of this evening. Not sure if it's a mis-price, but worth a punt at that price if you haven't already got it/them.

A quick heads up that Honor Blackman is the special guest on the Robert Elms show today (12.00-3.00) on BBC Radio London 94.9.

We watched Wish You Were Here tonight- classy Tara episode that one- nice mix of menace and slapstick.

We've reached The Man With Two Shadows- early in season 3. There's a real confidence about this season so far- all the episodes have been really good, as if they finally know what they're doing and what it's all about. It certainly feels more settled than season 2 where there was a feeling of them finding their feet. This season feels like The Avengers.

Almost... The Man With Two Shadows was rather brutal! And there's a certain scene half-way through that's never quite resolved, leaving the viewer in some doubt as to what actually happened. It's quite disturbing.

I do like the relationship between Steed & Cathy Gale. It's far more "spikey" than either Emma or Tara, with Steed often resorting to underhand tactics in order to get Mrs Gale involved!

I like the fact that she's not afraid to cross Steed and tell him when she thinks he's wrong (which seems to be quite a lot of the time!). She really is a great character and you can see Honor enjoying herself greatly doing it.

and what exactly did Steed whisper to Mrs Gale at the end? I bet it wasn't broadcastable!

I've been watching S6 which I found rather dull though it's really picked in the second half - I'm remembering why I enjoyed S4 and 5. Up to "Pandora" so far

I've found the Tara King ones to be a little patchy, but with enough gems to keep us interested. They're not as effortless as some of the Diana Rigg ones but they're certainly not a write-off.

Some of the first crop of Tara stories are really quite good, like All Done With Mirrors & Game.

And ...Look (Stop me if you've heard this one) but there were these two fellows...

I have to say I've found the Tara ones are far better than I remembered this time round. When they were good, they were fabulous!

Don't Look Behind You- an excellent bit of television. Tense and scary! And far better than its remake, The Joker.

There was something about the innovative sets in the Blackman era that made some of the stories very eerie. Glad you're enjoying Season 3!

Really enjoyed The Grandeur That Was Rome this evening. Great script, loved the slow build up and a good old fashioned eccentric diabolical mastermind! Loving Season 3 so far.

I'll need to give S3 a try - I went straight to 4,5 and 6 - not surprising I suppose I think it takes a bit of patience...
