When he was in his pram, viewers... If I was about 20 how old was Pip?!

    Editors?....there is a song I don't mind, but I've forgotten it's name.
Can we count that and I'll find out the title?

I'd not long turned eleven years old. About the same time as I was just getting into Doctor Who.

Their version of Diana Ross and The Supremes Forever Came Today, a great disco track from their 1975 album Moving Violation.

While we're on the subject of Motown, Diana Ross

I can't believe that Raston is saying he's never heard of the Editors... they're a hardcore Brit-metal band, aren't they? Oh wait a minute, no they aren't. They're actually quite good.

I'm also horrified that Jon has made a dreadful error in his titling of his favourite Lisa Stansfield song... great tune, though it is... the anorak in me insists that it's called, as all Oasis/Jam/Jason Donovan fans will know, "All Around The World".

    Fact.

As for Suzanne Vega, how rubbish am I? I've got to go for Tom's Diner, specifically the DNA version that troubled the charts in 1990. I've tried to do something similar to other acappella tunes in the past and never even come close. Marvellous stuff.

Too much repetition in this thread. I say, how about the best tune by... no, too obscure. So how about... no, far too boring. In that case how about... no, ridiculously sad. Therefore, what's the greatest tune - in the next person's opinion - by...

    Bob Dylan.

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright. Though I could be wrong. Tomorrow it could be different. Like Subterranean Homesick Blues. Or Masters Of war. Or With God On Our Side. Or Girl From The North Country. Or Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine. Or even Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands. I'm resisting the temptation to post Like A Rolling Stone. Or Hurricane, which I've never actually heard, but is probably amazing. But for the meantime, it's Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.

    Any road... Neil Young...?

If this were an album thread I'd say Harvest, but I'll say Old Man, mainly 'cos it's a good track.

Ahhh... yep, you would be a bit older. Although I'm still thinking you'd be about 8 or 9 when "Parklife" or "Suede" came out??
I have to say, 'Brit pop' was a quarter the music, quarter the media and half going out on the scene and 'avin it! Now you know why I'm cheesed off I missed Mod the first (two) time(s) round, The Summer of love and Punk and God knows what else!
I was listening to my cousins' Smiths records when I was 11 but I couldn't go and see them. I had to settle for Duran Duran instead!

Ryan Adams though! I say "Oh sweet Carolina"!

"Oh my sweet Carolina, what compels me to go... oh my sweet disposition...
May you one day carry me home..."

Splendid choice, even if I'd have gone for Firecracker or Rescue Blues, or even his backing vocals on...

Concrete Sky, by Beth Orton! That link would have worked so well if said tune had been my choice of Beth tune. Sadly, it isn't - great song, but there are so many better ones. Too many for me to choose from, so I'll go for either Sweetest Decline, Thinking About Tomorrow, I Wish I Never Saw The Sunshine, Paris Train, She Cries Your Name, or...

Okay, my final answer is Central Reservation... the remix version by that bloke from Everything But The Girl. What a great tune... "today is whatever I want it to be..."

Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours) is my big favourite. A huge pop tune that makes me smile every time I hear it. There's so many tohers I could choose though. Steve would probably have Superstition or Misstra Knowitall.

    Who next?
    Blondie.

"Oh Denis, oobie-doo, I'm in love with you...."

Simply a great pop song. I like Blondie but I'm not in love with them or anything, and things like Heart Of Glass and Atomic are just 'alright'. Thankfully, "Denis" is a bit more special than that.
