    Here goes. First sub genre

    More than one!

My fave dinosaur movie has to be 'One Million Years BC'.
It's got classic Ray Harryhausen stop motion animation, & Raquel Welsh & Martine Beswick having a cat fight whilst wearing very little.
What more can you ask for!

As Ray Harryhausen goes, Valeey of Gwangi is quite good. Dinosaurs and cowboys! I also really really love the Jurassic Park films.

Valley of Gwangi is an odd isn't it? Quite good fun though. Not seen it for donkeys years mind.
The Land that Time Forgot is another old favourite, & i got 'When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth' off eBay a few months ago but it's pretty rubbish really, apart from the scantily clad Julie Ege.
I'm afraid i don't like the Jurassic Park films though. I find them utterly charmless, boring & predictable.

Ray Harryhausen films are a sub genre in their own right - they're fab!

I'd pretty much agree with Wayne's choices. I do like 'Jurassic Park', though, and I'd say, as GGI goes, nearly fourteen years on, the effects in this movie still stand up better than most movies today.

Labyrinth probably, but I'm quite fond of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence too.

As for the Dinosaurs: Jurassic Park for me please.

It would have to be 'The Hunger'. But not because i'm mad about it, or anything.
I like some of Bowie's music, but i'm not particularly blown away by his acting. But at least this one's a vampire film, & it's got Catherine Deneuve & Susan Sarandon in it.

Wayne just likes the lesbian rumpy pumpy bits

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
I think his huge part in this is highly important and meaningful.

I would go for The Man Who Fell to Earth because he just plays himself in it and does it really well . I do have a soft spot for him in Labyrinth though.

Trainspotting, though Pulp Fiction is almost as good and there's a fair bit of drugginess in that too.

Frank Zappa's 200 Motels - OK, so it's not really about drugs as such, but it's so f***ed up, I imagine it's the most realistic cinematic representation of a trip there is!

Other than that, I'd have to say 'Trainspotting'. I can't think of any others off the top of my head, apart from 'Fear And Loathing...' and 'Kalifornia', and I've not seen either.

    New Sun Genre time

    Films about Bands.

My favs are Dig! which was wonderful. The Brian Jones Town Massacre are the greatest unknown band ever.
Rude Boy which is quite funny
Head. The Monkees grow up and get off their heads and give the Beatles a run for their money.

I really like A Hard Day's Night. It's a very witty, very well made and enjoyable film, that's got just enough truth in it to make it to make it seem really real.
