Isn't it? It feels like a wholly new experience watching that, and that's just a little taster! I can't wait for this DVD!

Interview with Stuart Humphryes (aka Babelcolour) who did the recolouring of Mind Of Evil here: http://www.tellytechblog.com/2013/05...belcolour.html

Interesting stuff re the colour tapes almost being found...

Not so much as a sticker or mention on the box to tell the floating fan it's been painstakingly recolourised. Well done everyone.

It's a shame because the results are astonishing. Episode 1 in particular looks superb, which considering it was coloured by hand is especially impressive. the colour recovered episodes are a little more variable if I'm being honest- there are moments where it seems to shift and become black and white a little on the skin tones and stuff, but that doesn't take away from the achievement. It's quite superb!

Quite honestly it's like watching a new story- it's a completely different experience to seeing it in black and white and all those years I thought it was better in black and white... well I was wrong. It was meant to be seen in colour!

And what a great story! I'd forgotten how good Jo is in this one- she's no wet screaming girl, she's really capable and fine- chopping convicts on the back of the neck, giving as good as she can! Go Jo!

I have probably been a bit unfair about the Colour recovery. It's only really pt 2 that looks a bit shonky in places. The other episodes look magnificent!

We've done Episode One. Cunningly the end scene is lifted from the chroma dotted start of Episode Two. Clever, clever. Episode One looks good. Not great to me but that might be because I know it's been hand painted. The sky at the start looks a bit off and some of the hair and skin too but considering it's very well done and as good as we're likely to get so here's hoping they can do this to Invasion of the Dinosaurs Part One.

Some lovely Autumnal leaves and colours in Episode 2 in the scenes outside UNIT's swanky London HQ. Nice product placement for Dairy Box too.

William Marlowe's life was consumed by his obsessive quest to marry as many people from Doctor Who as possible. He even proposed to Pertwee during rehearsals for episode 6 but was met with a polite refusal.

Can you imagine him getting down on one knee for Ronald Leigh Hunt or Jeremy Wilkin?

The colour recovery on this story is nothing short of stunning. It says something that you are constantly comparing it to "videotape" look and finding flaws... it's that close. There are a few black and white wavey lines and the whole thing still looks a little bit "film". But considering the colour for this was conjured up literally out of thin air, the quality is astounding. It's wonderful to see it brought vividly back to life. A joy to watch, and what a great story too!

Can't wait until August - not just because I'm coming home for a week-and-a-bit, but because that's when I'll get to pick up the Mind of Evil DVD!!!

Say what you like about the UK range, but we've rarely had a mistake like this one...

Yikes! I caught the BBC South East news clip on the iPlayer last night. Quite a nice little feature - although I'm sure Katy Manning had a lot more to say which was lost in the edit!

I watched the excellent making of docu last night before I went to work. I was struck by the poor quality of the b/w clips and realised what hard work must have gone into the restoration to not only restore the colour, but to bring the b/w episodes into a fit condition for this DVD release. Truly stunning work.
