Is there any free program that will 'filmise' home recorded video footage to make it look more sleek?

I use AVS - but it's not free, but worth considering - there are a whole range of programs you can get as a bundle from them.

I recently looked myself for the free option, but only got the trial systems which are useless.Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

Pinnacle http://www.videospin.com/Redesign/ provide their VideoSpin software for free.
There's a charge for codecs (i.e. for it to read certain content), but it's good enough for my use - to rip/cut bits out of DVDs/YouTube and fade/effects between each 'bit'.
I have found it a bit unintuitive to use, but that might just be me .Assume you're going to Win

Bearing in mind I can do all of that on Nero, does it have a 'filmise' function?

Do you mean something that makes it look as grainy as un-vidFIRE'd episodes of The Seeds of Death?
For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.
...Oh, who am I kidding?

He means he wants to reduce the frame rate to making his video more like film, giving it a glossier look (Doctor Who for instance used to be filmed on Digibeta then processed to look like film). The results you'd get would depend on the lighting of the source video, not to mention the quality of the footage. Personally I think it probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

It would just be good to lose that "home video" look. Seems it's not possible.
