Oh dear, that's not the best photoshopping. Shame, there's been some good covers lately.

And while I'm picking nits... are there really only two articles this month? And what in Zodin's name is a GAZINE?
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Nice to get a name check in the article about the Christmas Quiz (knew that question was dodgy).

And yes, dear reader, I still came in the top 5 and got my new subscription

Phew! I was worried about that. Reading the article, I wasn't sure if you'd made it or not!

That's OK. I'll blame Steve (since he's not here!) for neglecting to tell me!

I see the Art of Doctor Who special is due on 16th April - another late present to look forward to - apparently The Essential Doctor Who- The Master was supposed to be published last Thursday - has anyone actually seen it in any WHSmiths yet?

Update - a quick google tells me that the Master special should be shipping to retailers tomorrow! Hooray!

Thanks for the tip about Sainsbury's. Picked up the Master special this morning having looked in several branches of Smith's unsuccessfully.

No Ainley on the cover, for shame!

Got The Master last week - I'm not sure about 'Essential' but it was a good read. Following my complaint above, to be fair Ainley takes the 'main place' of the back cover picture BUT clearly the mag was written by somebody who's not as big a fan of Ainley as Delgado. Even ignoring Gary Russell's problems with him, the piece covering Ainley's master really kind of gives 80s Who a bit of a kicking, which is a shame.

I see that the Art of Who special is out - I'm intrigued to see Andrew Skilleter on Facebook, although in general very complimentary of this magazine, slightly miffed that only one of his twenty-four video covers ("some of my best work") is included. I didn't realise he'd done so many, but to be honest most of them weren't all that good were they? Caves, Assassin and Earthshock were impressive, and I always liked the idea if not the execution of Castrovalva, but as for the others... Traken, City of Death, Curse of Peladon, they were all absolutely awful (IMHO). Surely his book covers were his real 'finest hour' weren't they? What does anybody else think?

The book covers were Skilleter's best Who work by far. The set of Season 21 ones were especially impressive. None of his video covers really lived up to them, aside from Assassin, which is rather fabulous.

Generally I loved Alister Pearson's work far more than Skilleter.

I loved Skilleters novelisation covers. Couldn't stand Pearson's tripe. But the video covers wss a real reverse.

Who looks more frightening these days - Capaldi or Sylvester?

BTW - a bit of maths applied to the issue number tells me that approximately this time next year we'll be treated to #500!
