Bestselling books of the decade
This is one of the most unsurprising lists I've seen:
1 The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
2 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J K Rowling
3 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling
4 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J K Rowling
5 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J K Rowling
6 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J K Rowling
7 Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
8 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J K Rowling
9 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J K Rowling
10 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
But does that reflect your reading? What have been your favourite books for the decade?

I'm not really one to pass judgement, but that list makes me feel culturally dissapopinted. Ten years, and the "best" of our writing turns out to be pretty much a single series of "advanced children's" books and a couple from another series which I feel owes a lot of its popularity to counter-religious shock value.
Off the top of my head, the book that I've enjoyed most that came out this decade was probably Rick Wakeman's "Grumpy Old Rock Star"; I believe that any other books I've been reading were probably from before 2000 (though finally getting started on reading Terry Pratchett was probably my biggest literary high point). We ride tornadoes. We eat tomatoes.

I'm hoping with the once the last of the Harry Potter movies is made, the whole Harry Potter mania will die down a bit. How can the last of the books have sold more than the others? Surely you needed to read the others to read the last.
Actually I should kind of get around to reading that last one sometimes. Although as you might have guessed I've kind of got bored with the series. I noticed too Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series has finally finished - something I also started and ended up royally sick of.
This is Mr Grumpy signing off!Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

I've read all but two of those, so clearly they've got the list about right!!
It does seem an unrepresentative list though, I wonder what other books would have made the top ten if they'd included Potter just once as a 'combined series' figure?
