Ahh, well that's the joy of remaking something- you can shock the people who think they know what's coming.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I'll probably regret this ... but I won't be watching this:-

    a) I love the original so much
    b) I don't have the time just now

    I know, I know - it's brilliant and I'm a fool to miss it!

Forgot to put my thoughts on it, I do like it, but I'm going out tomorrow night so I'll be watching part 2 when I get back in.
Reminds me of missing a date in school to watch the first episode of Time And The Rani!!
Ah, but I'm a different person now...

Anyway, it did take a while to put the chess pieces into position, but the final act was very tense.
No more cardboard sets, no more predominately white prisoners, a lot more grit.
I will miss the daft storylines of people escaping inside a large robot costume one minute, then an electrocution out of the blue in the next episode.

But this is a new age. I don't know why they've kept the names of older characters, I don't even know if it will last as long as the original. But it's my Wednesday TV treat.

Still not sure about the "Walking Dead" style camera work for the title sequence though. (It just reminded me of the Walking Dead, it wasn't a direct copy.)

I'm watching the remake... I'm not sure I'd ever have time to get through the original show, much as I'd probably love it!

Ahh.... I assumed when you mentioned Anne Charleston that you were watching the original.

Afraid not. She turned up in a small role in this week's episode of the remake

It's quite addictive! I'm really enjoying it.

It is, isn't it? Yesterday's episode up there with the best of the original. Although in the older series, Vera's Alan would have been stretched out for a few more episodes.

Really powerful episode this week. Poor Bea- I really felt for her. I'm hoping Jacs will get her comeuppance next week. Bea is bound to find out what happened to Debbie.

    Loving this show.

It's certainly been a great first season even if the ending seemed inevitable. There's no doubting who'll be top dog now...

I've just found out via Facebook that Mary Ward who played Mum in the original series is still with us and is in fact 100 years old today! Happy birthday, Mum!

New Wentworth on Australia April the 4th.
Really looking forward to seeing it. It might get uploaded onto those Amazon Fire stick thingys that a friend has. So will encourage me to get out more to see him.
Good chance it might be on 5, but given last series they took it off the air without telling anyone and relegated it to 5USA or some obscure 5 affiliated channel. And took it off the air after about three episodes as well! You can imagine the 5 production meeting:

5 Head: Ah! At last! New series of Wentworth! Cor! Caged Lesbo women behind bars eh? This will put 5 at the top of the viewing figures! (Watched it and gets a few episodes in) She's... She's doing WHAT to herself?!! No! This cannot be broadcast! I will not allow this FILTH to be broadcast on British television! Let's take it off and replace it with good wholesome Celebrity Big Brother!

Celebrity Big Brother Non-Entity: I don't fink Asians drive that well!

5 Head: Ah! Great wholesome British entertainment!
