Default More Tom- BBC and BF!

According to a post over on Roobarbs, Tom is going to be doing more audio stuff for both the BBC and Big Finish!

The BBC stuff seems to include Lis Sladen and Nick Courtney and the BF Louise Jameson.

We'll just have to see if it's all true now, but after Hornet's Nest I'll be happy to hear more Tom audios in one form or another.

    Blimey, that sounds promising!

Isn't it about that time of the decade we usually dig "Shada" up again? Quick, get the pumps in!

    Confirmed on Tom's Forum:

    Dear Sarah

You might get your wish as I have agreed to do A Big Finish pruduction. They have accepted some of my thoughts and you'll be hearing about them, I guess.

I hope you won't be disappointed.

I wonder if this is why BF have dropped the stand-alone Eighth Doctor range? Doctors 5-8 in the monthly series and Tom in his own strand.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

I felt that the 8th Doctor range was asking too much of the fans. There's a lot of competition for our wallets these days.
They have accepted some of my thoughts and you'll be hearing about them, I guess.

    BF have made an announcement:
In the wake of a large amount of speculation on the internet about the possibility of Tom Baker working on Doctor Who audio productions with Big Finish, we thought we'd state the facts as they are now.

Tom Baker would like to confirm that 'warm contact' has been made with Big Finish. He adds, wryly, 'In my twilight years, I am looking forward to a tremendous Big Finish and the sooner the better.'

Executive Producer Nicholas Briggs adds, 'Tom and I have been communicating about possible projects for some time. There is really no firm news other than that, but we are both keen to make something happen.

'Lis Sladen, Louise Jameson and Nicholas Courtney have also expressed an interest in being involved, but no storylines have been written or approved yet and we don't anticipate anything being available before 2011.'

Big Finish would like to stress that any audio productions it may make featuring Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor would not clash with or affect Tom's continuing, highly successful work with BBC Audiobooks.

Has no one commented on this or did I miss it...

Tom Baker is once more returning to the role of the fourth Doctor in a second series of audio plays, Demon Quest, for BBC Audiobooks.

Baker appeared in the series Hornet's Nest last year alongside Richard Franklin as Captain Mike Yates, this first time he had played the part of the Doctor for many years.

Demon Quest is written by Paul Magrs, who also wrote Hornet's Quest. No details are yet available about the supporting cast in the series, which will be released over five instalments.

•1: Relics of Time - Released 2 September
•2: Demon of Paris - Released 7 October
•3: Shard of Ice - Released 4 November
    •4: Starfall - Released 2 December
    •5: Sepulchre - Released 2 December
There's a Boxed Set of Hornets Nest dropping too.

Looks like Yates is in them again and Mrs Wibbsey from the Hornets Nest series too. Having really enjoyed the first series I think I'll probably get these too.

It's probably a Roman thing- they used V instead of U apparently. Like I Clavdivs.

But do we need a description on the cover of what it is? I don't expect "The Dominators" to arrive with the words "Very Shit Doctor Who DVD" emblazoned accross the cover image.

Might be so that people won't think it's just a soundtrack for one of his old TV stories.

Didn't they do the same for the Hornet's Nest CDs?

Good point actually, with all these Target Book readings and stuff. And Genesis of The Daleks came with a 'Bestest Story EVAH!' sticker on the front.

Due to the massive oversight of not bothering to invent the letter u (or indeed the letter i).

I'm sorry, I've been in libraries far too long...

Well Essex Libraries has ordered the Hornet's Nest Box set. I naturally couldn't possibly comment...

It's like one of those French novelisation covers where it was any old person in a hat and scarf!

The idea could conceivably be in the style of Toulouse Lautrec, of course. The mention of Paris and the fourth Doctor's style of dress could be the big giveaways.

Still doesn't look much like Tom though, does it?

I think it's supposed to look more like this -

    http://www.galaide.org/old_weblog/im...bassadeurs.jpg

Which apparently was the inspiration for the 4th Doctor's look.

Is that the worst Doctor Who cover of all time?
