    Default New Version of iTunes

Over the weekend, my iTunes offered to update itself for me and of course I accepted. Now it won't recognise my iPhone when I plug it in.

I'm sure it's the new update as (i) otherwise it would be an almighty coincidence and (ii) it 'bongs' when I plug it in (and sometimes randomly over the next few minutes) suggesting the computer has recognised the phone but iTunes hasn't - it doesn't begin charging and it doesn't appear on iTunes so I can sync.

I've looked on-line but can find hardly any help. Has anyone else installed the update over the weekend and been unable to sync? What can I do?

I've had this before - it sounds like you need to restart the "Apple Mobile Device" service. If you're using Windows 7 it's in Administrative Tools / Services, if you're using something else then it'll be somewhere similar. It doesn't work if you go through the task manager. Click the Apple Mobile Device service and it should give you the option to restart it in the left pane. That's always done it for me.

Are you plugging it into the PC directly or to an external USB hub?
If the latter, make sure that the power connection is firmly plugged in.

I re-started services and it has fixed it. Thanks!
