Given it a good hard thump!
I'm pleased to report that my email alerts are now coming through. Is it alright to use them despite the change of address though?

I'm pleased that the email alerts are working.
You're right; the links still mention planetskaro.org.uk and that won't get you very far .
We should be transferring the domain away from Streamline ASAP and once we have it and have it configured correctly, the links will work.Assume you're going to Win

I have noticed just how much faster PS is on the new host. Under Streamline things felt like they were taking several seconds to complete, here it's a fraction of that .
I actually want to get rid of this host at some point - and replace with something with much more space and the ability to partition the space as I want .
If you did pay for this host, you would be paying for something with no disaster recovery *, where pound signs don't come out correctly **, and a host which needs more backup space for the PS website .
*: Bytemark no longer offer the Linux distribution on which this site runs.
**: On a new host we can make sure that they do come out correctly.
Let the Mods talk about this and we will come up with an action plan.
Cheers.Assume you're going to Win

This host seems to be blocked from my workplace half the time as well. I've found today that with persistence I can sometimes get the page to load, but a third of the time I get a blocked website warning. And sometimes the backgrounds don't load, which probably also has to do with it being blocked.

I just thought I'd mention that we seem to be on Phil L's planetskaro.dnsalias.org & on planetskaro.org.uk? And the old address seems to be running fine, (This would explain how we are getting new posters with silly names). Are the problems sorted now?

My address bar still says the dnsalias address!

Both work.

The dnsalias address will switched off soon, but you shouldn't really be using it anymore anyway

No-one told us not to. I had no idea the old address had come back, was it posted somewhere?

I thought I'd sent out a general e-mail? Mustn't have worked, I'll have to try it again.

I'm not having any more problems with getting in from work now that I can use the old address.

Don't know if it is just me, but the "forum tools" drop down menu (where you select 'mark forum read') isn't dropping down for me.
-

You can mark a forum read by double clicking on the red TARDIS next to the forum name, if that helps Jeff.
But having just tried it here, it seems to work OK as far as I can tell.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

The drop down is functioning normally Jeff, must be your PC/connection.

OK. The rest of the drop down menus all work fine for me, but that one doesn't do anything. If I right click and force it to open it takes me to a page where the forum tools are near the bottom after the threads...

There's a technical term we have at work for this;
"The problem's between the seat and the keyboard"

Yes, I'm familiar with that term, and it would probably be more funny if it applied to this situation.

Do we know what the problem was this evening with access?
-

Yes, the problem was that we didn't have any!
Si.
