Only there's going to be requests for The Lads to do a bit of rebooting at this rate, I can tell!

So I've undone a few of the things that came in on Friday/Saturday.
I'll gradually put them back in - one at a time this time - and I'll count on Wayne to let me know at what point he has trouble accessing the site
Wayne's internet connection must be on one of those fixed pints in space and time.
Or a rift space and time.
Or at the end of a crack in the wall.

What is it about Saturday mornings?
I always get a dose of the same troubles with error connection time-outs and such like, making the business of posting a 5 minute affair just to make one post.
And I usually have to bug poor old Philip on Facebook.... (which I hate doing) But why? Why? Why?
-
5th Sep 2015, 10:30 AM #609
Why?
Because I keep trying server updates and they keep failing with Wayne's internet connection.
Basically, I can't upgrade the server until Wayne's internet is fixed!

The site was down between 19:20 (BST) and 19:55 tonight.
Around 19:20 the server stopped responding to requests and so I restarted it.
There was an error when restarting the server and it took longer than I would have liked to restarted the server - I've raised that with the hosting provider.
Everything looks OK now and I'll dig into what initially caused the site to stop working.

Got an odd double posting problem, when I post quick reply it asks me if I want to leave the page, then posts twice! Think a couple of other people have noticed this.
Also the banner keeps vanishing! I'm using Firefox atm.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Thanks for the report Rob
I've fixed the banner vanishing - a gremlin when putting the new banner live at the weekend.
I've tweaked a setting on the server that may help with the double posting issue.
If that's still a problem, more investigation will be needed!Assume you're going to Win

Looks like the webserver died this morning around 3am for some reason
There's nothing in the logs indicating exactly why it died - but that is around the time that the logs get rotated; hmm
The webserver and site is back up and working normallyAssume you're going to Win

Couldn't get on here a few days ago. Database error.
-

Thanks for posting about that Dirk; (I had forgotten we had this tread)
Yes, last weekend the database was down from Saturday morning to Sunday evening - opps!
There should be several systems in place alerting me to stuff not working on the site, but they did not
However, these are now fixed/replaced and I'll get alert if subsequent problems happen
Thanks!Assume you're going to Win

There's a "Be Social" box on the main forum page. When I clicked the arrow it used to make the box disappear and make the forum wider, but now it directs me to the activity stream page. I would like to have the wider forum if I can?
I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

Not to worry, it seems it's an issue only on my work PC.
