In a nutshell, what is the standard of writing in the current range of BBC novels?

I found that I wasn't enjoying the BBC range after the return of the series to tv. I felt that the standard of writing was more juvenile, aimed at a younger audience, and lacking the depth that we had enjoyed previously, and generally the stories simply weren't as memorable as previous novels.

What do you think of the current range? Was I just being unfair on the range and should I give it another go? Or should I stick to reading the few old BBC/Virgin novels which I still haven't read yet (or re-reading old favourites) if I want a good fix of DW fiction?

Either way, I think it's about time that the BBC brought back the past Doctors range, don't you?
