Default Meglos -Well Observed General, I Am Out On DVD Now!

post on DWO, says that the coming soon trailer has been aproved by the BBFC, personaly because of it being a 4 day bank holiday and the big problems of pre-orderied stuff being delivered I think it's unlikely. it would be nice if it is but I wouldn't be at all suprised if it's a late January early Feburary release.

Although they brought out Battlefield about the same kind of date, as I remember.

Season 18 was the first one I can remember watching on my own as my sister and brother had lost interest. It looks great, I remember the DWM (in fact wasn't it DWW at that point?) cover of Tom as Meglos.
However when I saw it years later on UK Gold... Begs-stop!
The scene with the Doctor and the sacrificial boulder!
    Worst. Baker. Acting. Ever.
I knew of his idea of "You mustn't let the children see the Doctor is scared?" but even having a camera of a telephone with Tom on the other line would have been better than that scene?
Pity, "New Age" Barbara as well...
If I see it cheap somewhere I'll bother with it.

So you're not going to be swearing allegiance to Ti then, Dino?

Oh that's easy, just waggle his tail.

I might be the only person who adores Meglos. Which other TV show would feature a giant cactus trying to take over the universe?

Just after its 30th anniversary would be the perect way to round off this year's releases if you ask me.

Meglos does have a bit of a hasty conclusion, and Jackie Hill is badly written out - but I think that up to that point (ie, the first three episodes) it's actually pretty good. I always enjoy the 'prologue' feel to part one, in that the Doctor and Romana don't get involved in the story at all as such so we learn a lot about the 'guest characters'. Plus there are a couple of really standout Who moments in this one - the bit where TomMeglos wrestles with the human body, and the bit where Meglos holds out his hand to show whatsername (although we don't see it) the shrunken dodecahedron.

Plus Romana's buccanner outfit is jolly nice, why do we see so few photographs of that one?

In all seriousness, I'd wonder whether there are that many pictures about?

Yay Meglos. It has its faults but like Si Hart I also love it. Its a great opportunity for Tom to act evil which is great. Its been a while since I last saw it but doesn't the man get nagged at by his wife when he finally returns home? I love that.

I don't think we ever see 'the wife' Paul, although he does worry about it in the last scene. Does the book add a 'nagging epilogue' I wonder?

Tom didn't. That's why she and Lalla split.

    Allegedly...

Yes it's the R1 cover. I wonder if this is the first time we've seen the cover before the DVD is officially announced?

Surely the composers will spend the whole commentary going 'Hush! Listen to this bit of music!'
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
