Bringing the tone down straightaway, I'm re-reading The Gallifrey Chronicles by Lance Parkin. It's the last in a series of books inspired by BBC TV's popular family drama, Dr Who....

I've resisted reading it again for ages, having enjoyed it so much back in 2005. Trouble is, I suspect it'll leave me wanting to go right back and start re-reading the whole EDA run.

I finished Our Tragic Universe yesterday. It was an odd one- a good read, but quite possibly a huge joke n the reader on her part considering the content.

Next up is Gary Russell's Doctor Who and the Glamour Chase.

Harry Hill's Flight from the Deathrow. I bought it well over a year ago and read the first few pages but couldn't get in to it. But last week I thought I'd give it another go and I'm really loving it now.

The Terrible Privacy of Maxwell Sim had a rather audacious ending. I'm not sure if it worked or not, but it certainly made me gasp!

Next up is Together Alone: The Story of the Finn Bothers by Jeff Apter.

To Kill A Mockingbird. I last read this for my GCSE Eng Lit and I loved it then. It turns out it's even better than I remember. It's lost none of its power and I think I'm getting even more out of it than I did back then.

Yesterday I started reading Defoe's Journal of the Plague Year- the note in quite frankly appalling handwriting inside the front cover tells me that I bought it in 1989. And this is the first time I've read it.

This is the main reason why I won't be getting a Kindle anytime soon!

The end of to Kill a Mockingbird nearly made me cry on the train this morning. I don't know if it's just because I'm full of cold and not feeling great, whether it's just because I'm a soppy sod, or whether it's just a wonderful ending, but it really got me.

Just read Room by Emma Donaghue. It was a disturning and intriguing read. Very well written- got inside the head of a 5 year old surprisingly well, especially for one as unique as Jack.

Next up is The Fort by Bernard Cornwell.

Paul O'Grady's second autobiography, The Devil Rides Out.

The Fort was one of the very rare things- a book I just couldn't get into. So I gave up, and am reading the far more satisfying Player One by Douglas Coupland.
