Having started and abandoned it some time ago, I made a concerted effort and finished Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde - liked it better than his Thursday ones, but not as much as the Nursery Crime ones. Was surprised to find it was the start of a new trilogy though.
( did find myself thinking of those Mitchell & Webb sketches about Come Inside quite often though )Bazinga !

I'm reading Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy. About halfway through and am enjoying it. I prefer Far from the Madding Crowd, but it's better than Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Mayor of Casterbridge.

I'm now reading the second volume in The Civil War: A Narrative Fredericksburg to Meridian. I finished the first volume at the start of the year and decided to have a break before reading volume 2.

The Darles Chickens classic, A Sale of Two - ah, no, it's A Tale of Two Cities by some disregarded Victorian hack.

I always think that A Tale of Two Cities was the best of his books, the worst of his books, a book for the rich and a book for the poor.
I'm currently reading Gruff Rhys's "American Interior" about a quest to follow in the footsteps of John Rhys Evans, an 18th Century explorer who set out to find a lost tribe of Welshmen in the middle of America. There's an album, film and App to go with it too.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I think I was hooked on Game of Thrones from (roughly) the moment Tyrion gets to the Eyrie. That's when the plot cogs really start biting together.
I was also impressed by the themes of owning your own name and standing up to bullies / oppressors. Some characters manage this more successfully than others!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
