I'm all a bit obsessed with The National right now, Conversation 16 especially, though the rest of High Violet does it for me as well.

The rather wonderful eclectic and random collection of various artists that is... In The Mind of Jamie Cullum.

I've now reached the All Things to All Men by The Cinematic Orchestra featuring Roots Manuva- which I first heard on the rather harrowing documentary film Capturing The Friedmans.

Rather disturbingly the spoken section includes the word "Tardis".

I'm probably in all sorts of money worries with my bank (And the CD was only £5.99 from Amazon!) but it's been worth it for the amazingly soulfull Ruth Copeland double CD "Self Portrait" and "I Am What I Am".
She doesn't cover "I Am What I Am" but I urge you all to You Tube "The Music Box", "The Medal", "Crying Has Made Me Stronger" and the one that made me think "Yeah... I've really got to get this!", "Suburban Family Lament".
Two records recorded in the 70's and even in this internet age, she's really difficult to track down! I know what to see the Doctor Who stories where she was a companion and learned how to delete all her traces from Earth!*

*=These episodes might only exist in my head.

Classic by Joe McElderry - really need to put some more music on my phone but I am finding this strangely comforting!

Heathen by David Bowie. A majestic triumph for late career Bowie. One of his best.

I'm absolutely loving the new Neil Finn project, Pajama Club album- some of his best work for a while on it.

Noel Gallagher brands Lady GaGa "Madonna lite"
    Arn't you Beatles-lite then?

The singer-songwriter revealed that he is not a fan of GaGa as she is too concerned with being a spectacle, adding that people will not be listening to her music in the future.

Gallagher told Q magazine: "I don't give a f**king monkey's about Lady GaGa. It's all about the meat suit and the controversy.

"Is it about music? Really? She's got the publicity side sorted, but where's the f**king music?"
In the charts, getting to Number 1? Playing on the radio? It's an odd question.

Twenty years from now, will we be listening to Lady GaGa? No
Twenty years from now, will we be listening to Noel's solo music? You decide.

    Lady Gaga: I'm fab

    Noel: No, you're shit, love.

Britney's influence is notable on some of the tracks but such was pop at the turn of the century.

"It's The Way You Make Me Feel" has matured as something of a Steps track par excellence.

The freebie CD in this months Uncut. It's full of artists who have been heavily influenced by Brian Wilson (including Gruff Rhys - thought I'd lob that one in for Hart & McCow!) The SMiLE box set is out in a few weeks - can't wait!!!!

I'm listening to Björk's new album, Bibliophilia.

She bridges the gap between Bagpuss and Squarepusher techno-glitch like no-one else.

"Sherlock Holmes" by Sparks. A wonderfully inventive band, and still going strong! This is taken from their "Angst In My Pants" album. Possibly the greatest album title ever?? Have a listen here:-
