By Timothy, I'm listening to another classic Paul Temple adventure - The Van Dyke Affair from 1959

Ah the Van Dyke Affair - not my favourite but worth it for a very camp turn by Richard Hurndall.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

I'm obliged to ask about dodgy cockney accents at any mention of Van Dyke, you know...

Ha Lissa - I've just commented about that in the Richard Hurndall thread. I thought it was Charles Hawtrey at first! Paul & Steve really should fit their car with bullet-proof glass. They've been shot at enough times to warrant the expense!

You might have heard about White Noise and the album they made with Delia Derbyshire, "An Electric Storm".
Well no Delia on "White Noise 2" instead so much 70's synth that Movement I has made me feel like I am living in a 70's Doctor Who episode!

Oh they're a wonderful band Si - I've got all their albums (all 3!) and saw them live about 4 times. I first saw them at The Royal Albert Hall when they were supporting Morrissey. Old Friends New Lovers is my fave

Ahh! Another fan! They're so summery and fun. We last listened to them in Santa Cruz!

Of all the Fab Four, I think I would have got on with George the best!

I've been listening to the Yardbirds and reminding myself what a fantastic - and underrated - band they were.
