A lovely moody picture! I don't think this special will be a warm, glowing celebration. Bring back Shockeye - he's used to dealing with 2 Docs.

Website devoted to loveable scatterbrains (JOKE! JOOOOOOKE!!!!) has got rather excited over the involvement of a previous actor.

I still think it might not happen, but it hasn't made my dinner any more cooked has it, love?

Two reflections on the title :

    1) Should it be Doctors ?

    2) For many, many years fans only have to say the word "Day" when talking about stories and you know it's the first Pertwee Dalek story being referred to. We won't be able to do that now!

Well technically he's one person isn't he?

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

That's true, but The Three Doctor, The Five Doctor and The Two Doctor would have made very odd titles!

    Another false alarm... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho...-Last-50-Years

    Onward goes the waiting game!!

EDIT: "To celebrate the last 50 years". May or may not include the decision to put it on hiatus and then axe it completely a few years later!

That policeman is standing at a very odd angle. He must be in the middle of his Sylvester McCoy "you ain't seen nothing yeeeeeet" impression.

Anyone any idea who the figure standing with their back to us, facing Tennant, is supposed to be ? (my guess is the Brig ? )

Someone has spent a lot of time trying to get as many of the kisses to the past as possible in the trailer: http://sarahjane.co.vu/post/64531973878

And still no-one can tell me if the policeman is John Hurt! It looks like him.

My money is on Jamie. But I've heard others saying it's Hurt's Doctor...
    I'm still saying it's Jamie!

The only other lead I have is it's Michael Keating's character from "The Sunmakers" but even though I wouldn't think twice about making an obscure reference to a one off guest appearance in a trailer... it probably isn't him either!

I've seen it suggested that maybe it's the Brigade-Leader from Inferno? It's a good match I guess (shirt, trousers, and 'sash') but an odd choice.

One thought that occurred to me today, and since I'm avoiding any and all spoilers it is just an idle thought... if Hurt's Doctor is a 'missing' incarnation somewhere along the line, then presumably Matt is Doctor 12, David is Doctor 11, etc, etc. Which puts quite a different spin on all this "at the Fall of the Eleventh" business doesn't it...?

Possibly although I think the point "The Name of the Doctor" was hinting at is that there have only been 11 incarnations who used the name "Doctor". The Hurt incarnation operated using the Doctor's actual name, or at least that was implied by the reference in the Time War book in "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS" and more importantly by the final line "But you didn't do it in the name of the Doctor!" So I believe "The Fall of the Eleventh" which may even be the same even as "The Day of the Doctor" still refers to the Smith incarnation.
I suspect the fact that the Doctor has possibly only one more regeneration left will be addressed in the Christmas special especially if the rumoured title is correct.

You only need to sneak in the Valeyard and John Hurt and you've run out of regenerations already!
