Hmm. There's a difference between saying you didn't go as far with the character as you could have done, and saying you have any intention of coming back to it. I could probably have done more with my Maths GCSE coursework and got a better mark, but I have no intentions of going and re-taking it.

    Spoilers!!

Under the guise of wild speculation...How do you think the Ponds will leave?

Killed by weeping Angels? Killing themselves to save the Doctor, River (their Daughter) or themselves from the Angels?

What do you think? You have less than an hour to speculate.

As I haven't watched it, nor looked at the Rate thread, I'll go for them both drowning in Amy's smugness (or worse, Amy and River's combined smuggness - no, that would kill everyone !)

Eccleston on being in a Special:

"Would I like to be involved? If I told you that, I'd have to shoot you," said the actor, who played the Ninth Doctor for a single 13-part series in 2005.

He then added: "I've not even thought about it. It's so long ago for me that I haven't even thought about it."
Sounds suspiciously like question-dodging to me. And who would have bet against him not simply saying "No way"?

Is it me or is this VERY encouraging!

Still didn't stop a Digital Spy poster from calling him a "self-important cockend" though.

The first paragraph sounds encouraging ..... but my excitement dampened down after reading the second paragraph.

Ah well, that second paragraph might just have been misinformation...

You know, much as I'd like all the Doctors to be involved, if it were all three (four? Next one too?) of the modern Doctors, I'd take that.

Let's face it, we'd all wet ourselves with excitement if they did as little as having a picture of Paul McGann and a line that made Dimensions In Time canonical.

Doctor Who is going to take over television, if not the Universe itself. Good to see we've shied away from the usual hype ("game changing cliffhanger" etc) that leads to inevitable dissapointment.

Steven Moffat has promised that Doctor Who will "take over television" in 2013.

However, the showrunner - speaking at a screening of this year's Christmas special 'The Snowmen' - remained tight-lipped about any specific plans for the 50th anniversary year.

"They are immense, they are considerable," he promised. "[The episodes] will be full of tremendous surprises. But they wouldn't be surprises if I accidentally said them now, would they?

"But I promise you, we're going to take over television. Trust me."
I trust him. He's not let me down before so why should he now?

The Scrooge in me feels obliged to grumble that with probably less than even the standard 13 episodes we were used to in 2005 - 2008, I don't think Doctor Who will be taking over television any time soon.

And Eccleston, to me, looks more like he's being polite & not saying "Doctor Who again? Oh shut up!" rather than "Oooh now, wouldn't you like to know?" Not that I wouldn't love to see him back mind you!

7 more sleeps to "The Snowmen"!

EDIT: No, it's 6 more sleeps. Sorry about that!

Dino, you could always have a quick nap just before it starts to make it 7...although if you're anything like my missus then you'll probably sleep through it.

Of course, by "take over television" Moffat is probably referring less to the number of episodes in development (after all, if that were the case, then the programme would be "taking over television" every time it's on...) than he is to potential plans for other programmes to become involved; the kind of tie-in programmes that saw Coronation Street through its fiftieth anniversary.

Expect Have I Got Whos For You, Doctor Who Pointless, another Who-themed Mastermind... that sort of thing.

Different TV channel, but imagine if Doctor Who had a Jeremy Kyle special?

The BBC being the BBC, they'll just repeat the David Tennant and Alex Kington episodes.

Nice looking site...shame half the buttons don't work.

All I get is "Internal Server Error - Read

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Reference #3.eabef50.1359047137.7025bc0" every time I click on anything.

First thing I saw was "Home of Doctor Who collectibles" and a link to the BBC Shop, which perhaps tells us how the BBC view the celebration.

Well it does say it is a BBC Worldwide website, not a BBC website.

Unfortunately BBC Shop does not ship to your country. Please try Amazon for more great Doctor Who products.
Or Argos, you can get some of the toys from Argos.

I thought the BBC didn't advertise! Sure it should say "Try Amazon or other online retailers for more great Doctor Who products."?

Well how long has that advert for Alan Yentob been on eBay? It's not as if the BBC haven't acively encouraged the use of other sites...
