Paradise Towers- Freed From the Basement on DVD in 2011
Paradise Towers is marching onto shiny disc this year.
Stephen Wyatt says:
Thanks for comments. Richard Briers, Howard Cooke and Andrew Cartmel were I believe among those interviewed for the documentary.
The commentary I did with Mark Ayres, Judy Cornwell and Dick Mills, the guy responsible for the special sound effects.Re the music for PARADISE TOWERS. My understanding is that the DVD will offering a choice of hearing Keff's score or the original one which his replaced.

I look forward to finding out from the various interviewees whether Red Kangs, Red Kangs, Red Kangs are best. Or not.

If you haven't seen it for 24 Years Larry, maybe it's not as bad as you think?

Been wanting to re-watch this for ages!

I shall quote the DWM 25th Anniversary special - "the appearance of an all too familiar kitchen implement means this story will never be repeated or commercially released uncut".
So we can look forward to the all-important "Look what she's done to poor Tabby!" scene being excised from the matrix!

Jigsaw?! That's surely not the show in which, if you were perchance to say six words with double-oh in a row, you'd conjure up a certain pair of superheroes... is it?

Is that the real cover on DWO? It's not very good. And there are no circles.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It's a bit undramatic. They've used the pic of McCoy being necklocked by the Cleaner but photoshopped on a different face instead of his gurning. So now he just looks mildly interested that he's being strangled.
It's all a bit undramatic. For such a lively, vivacious story the cover manages to suck all the life out of it.

Nice.
Has anyone (in general fandom) heard the alternate score before?“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

I haven't heard the alternate score before. Its don't think it's been circulated that i know of. Like the Mark of the Rani score it'll be interesting to hear but I suspect it'll feel wrong.

I'd be surprised if the Paradise Towers extras featured on a DVD that wasn't Paradise Towers Larry.

I think Larry's referring to "Casting Sylvester", and I don't think it's appeared on any previous release. It might have, though, as it has nothing to do with Paradise Towers whatsoever. It's a brief and boring interview with Clive Doig and his relationship with Sylv down the years.
Having said that, "Girls! Girls! Girls!" has even less to do with Paradise Towers; but it's an actual work of documentary genius. Imagine Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Sophie Aldred reminscing over a few bottles of wine about being Doctor Who girls in the 1980s, then add a few shots of vodka into Janet's glass and watch her take over, being as loud and bolshy as ever, and then end up maudlin and depressed at the end. You can almost hear the taxi being called for her by Sarah Sutton. It's worth getting the DVD for this alone.

I can still remember the "Dun der dun dunnn" music when the cleaners were moving around in the last episode. So even if "Girls! Girls! Girls!" isn't as amazong as Mr Awesome says, I'll still be getting this. (Famous last words etc...)

It entirely depends on your embarassement threshold. There's some cheesy stuff going on, but there's a great story going on at the same time.
Worth it for the "rule-book" scene, I reckon, which was the first time McCoy was brilliant at being the Doctor.
