007 music: Bookending Moore
The Roger Moore era had themes recorded by five female solo artists in a row, bookended with themes by two of the biggest groups of their respective eras; today we'll look at the bands...so which one do you prefer...

Ooooooo! Now this is a tough one! Live and Let Die is a huge Paul McCartney classic, but A View To A Kill rocks - it's also a superb track.
There's an important element that could swing it to A View To A Kill's favour though, which is that Live and Let Die has a reggae break section. It may lead into Paul screeching the word 'Heeeaaaayyyyyyylllll!' but it's totally at odds with the rest of the song.
Actually, I'm going to vote for View To A Kill because when I was very young I had a little record player that played 7" singles. And the only single I had was View To A Kill.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I'm going to have think this one through, as they're both excellent themes and big favourites of mine...

Live and Let Die. Both have dodgy lyrics "In this world in which we live in" LaLD, but only VtaK has the repeated line "With a view to a kilt". Well that sounds too Scottish for me. So Live and Let Die it is.
Also V2AK (as it would be marketed today) has a line about "Dance into the fi-yah!" that irritates the Wife, so loses points thereCreator of Doctor WHeasel and sometime political radical

I relly like both songs, but nostalgia wins once again for me because of childhood trips to the cinema to see those early Moore films. It's Live And Let Die for me.

I have gone for a View to a Kill... like the phe-o-nix from the flames.
