I didn't know that! I guess the Bernice Summerfield short was a clue.
What's their animation series about? I bet they tried to get the rights to new animated episodes of Classic Who.

A quote from the News Pages says:
"a totally new style of animation, a hybrid of the classic anime styles of the 80s and high-technology".
Anyway, they're doing it in anime style (cheap) using modern technology (very cheap) by Big Finish (we'll do it for the cost of lunch). At that rate they'll be in profit before they release the DVDs!
However, that doesn't mean to say that it won't be any good. If it's done with a bit of passion and care it could be brilliant. Or it could be like Star Trek: The Animated Series done with a Zoetrope.
I only hope it's better than the ghastly animation style that they used for Dreamland, Doctor Who's all-time stinkiest New Series TV story.

We were talking about this last night and, in blissful naivity, I voiced the opinion that "Reign" had probably been in production for a few years now it was apparently "ready to go". But according to Twitter they haven't even started it yet! Pre-production begins on June 6th, apparently. I hope for everyone's sake it looks good!

I quite like this Reign of Terror, so I'm looking forward to this.
If it's anything like Invasion then it won't be too bad. Although I'd hope for smoother animation.
I hope they do as Lissa suggest & have both a full version & an abridged version. For those with short attention spans.

This is all very exciting!
The extant ROT episodes are the only ones from the Classis Series which I’ve never seen, and neither have I heard the audio for the story, so barring another full B&W story recovery, this will be my last chance ever to watch a Classic Series story for the first time.
Having said that, I know ROT is not a much admired story but that doesn’t really bother me – it’s still exciting!

It's an odd one, I must have seen it a few times but I can't remember anything about it.

You mean you don't remember any of these?
1. William Hartnell is dragged from a burning building by a tiny boy.
2. Barbara and Ian spy on Napoleon.
3. Edward Brayshaw is very good as a French Revolutionary.
4. Barbara is very kind to a prisoner in a cell, while waiting for the Guillotine.
5. There's some marvellous funny business with Hartnell in period dress, upsetting a guard.

All the more for me to look forward to, then!

I've seen it once and can't remember much apart from Babs and Susan in a rat infested cell. I can't even picture Carole Ann's video introduction and links. I trust they'll include them on the dvd for completions sake.

I love Reign of Terror, but was not a fan of the animated Invasion epsiodes.

Ah yes! the Loch Pickup Monster myth rears its ugly head again!
Look, it's another DVD title, isn't it?

Very much like The Invasion then. I hope they've smoothed out the motion, but I doubt it.

It's fine. Assume they've got a program that turns photos into drawings then, and they're just feeding into it all the pictures they can find.

Having been away for the past week or so, I've just come back to this news which I think is fantastic. There's hope for the other incomplete serials if this does well. Looking forward to it.

I was trying to think the other day how many unreleased, incomplete stories we're talking about - apart from Reign, there's 'only' The Tenth Planet and The Ice Warriors, is that right? So a total of five episode to animate, of which we know they're doing the two for Reign... I would think it's a fair chance they'll do the other two stories (I hope so).

Reign of Terror needs 2 episodes out of 6. (4 & 5)
The Crusade needs 2 ep's of 4. (2 & 4)
Tenth Planet needs 1 of 4. (4)
The Moon Base needs 2 of 4. (1 & 3)
The Ice Warriors needs 2 of 6. (2 & 3)
Also possible are The Faceless Ones, needs 4 of 6. (2,4,5 & 6) & Wheel in Space needs 4 of 6. (1,2,4 &5)Last edited by Dirk Gently; 6th Jun 2011 at 11:30 PM. Reason: Coz i'm fick.

Mission to the Unknown would be a nice one. Not sure how they'll cope with stories where there aren't many photos. Maybe borrow from Loose Cannon and fake them using pictures of the actors in other shows.

Tim, I'm assuming they won't revisit episodes that are already 'out there' - so I left out The Crusade, The Moonbase, and T'Wheel in Space as they're already on DVD. If the other stories sell OK though, who knows...

don't get me wrong I'm delighted that they are going to animate the missing two episodes but because we have so little of Pat Troughton, I'd of much prefered to of seen the Moonbase, released with it's two missing episodes animated.
