Default Doctor Who - IDW Comic Strip

I09 have a preview of the forthcoming Doctor Who comic strip from IDW.

    Linky clicky!

Tony Lee (w) • Richard Piers Rayner (a) • Tommy Lee Edwards, photo (c)
"Ripper's Curse," Part 1 of 3: This is it! No alternate worlds, no dreams or virtual cities-it's the first time ever that the Doctor goes up against JACK THE RIPPER! When the Doctor, Rory, and Amy find themselves in Whitechapel in 1888, they become part of a murder hunt for Jack himself-or should that be Jack ITself?
*2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.
    FC • 32 pages • $3.99
As a fan of the original comic strip, I'm looking forward to something a little less... sanitised than the DWM strip tends to be these days. Frankly, I think the artwork in the previews is streets ahead of most of the DWM strips, so I'm quite optimistic!

    Thoughts, anyone?
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Out of interest, have IDW ever/or do they have plans for, a classic DW comic series? After watching the "Stripped for Action" documentaries, I've a hankering for some classic Who comics.

IDW have been colourising (rather well) and reprinting the old marvle strips for sometime (Ithink they're up to the start of the McCoy years now). here's a link- there are loads on amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Class...0222554&sr=8-1

Or you could get the Panini ones- they're still available (and very, very good too)

Thanks for that Si, I was sure there had to be something like this out there - but wasn't really sure what to search for. Just bought the first volume.

Let us know what you make of them when you read them Martin. Having grown up reading the strip I'm very fond of the early stories.
