    Default RIP Michael Gough

According to the news feed from Anneke Wills, her ex husband, Celestial Toymaker/ Hedin has died. He was 94.

I actually thought he was older than that.

RIP. Shame he never got to come back in the eighties.

    RIP Mickgough.

Though 94 is a grand old age to get to.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

This is really sad following the recent passing of Nicholas Courtney, though he did reach a grand age (and there has been disputes of his birth year being 1913, 1914 and 1916 - not even he knew as his birth certificate was lost in Malaysia).

A great actor whose career spanned many decades from Hammer Horror to playing Alfred the Butler in the Batman films and appearances in Tim Burton movies as well as two roles in Doctor Who, one of which was an iconic figure in the programme. (He was also considered for the part of Doctor Fendelman in Image of the Fendahl.)

    RIP

Surely you'd know how old you were. Couldn't he date it by, for example, remembering the song that was Number 1 when he was ten? Or are we supposed to think he didn't know how old he was even when he was a child/young adult? Maybe he was the tallest nine year old in his class because he was really thirteen.

As it happens, Michael came out of retirement in 2010 to do voice work in both Alice in Wonderland and All Star Superman (which he's great in), so it's a shame he passed away whilst still clearly able and happy to work.

I was always very fond of him, and for me he's the definite Alfred - Caine's good, but doesn't capture the spirit of the role quite as well as Gough did.

    RIP.

That's good! I figured as they didn't get him back for "The Nightmare Fair", he wasn't capable. But maybe he was just in America and too old to travel.

Sadly we are now reaching that point where we are now going to see many of those people involved in Doctor Who, dying you just think now who's going to be next .

Sad to hear, though he enjoyed a long life at 94. I always thought he was the perfect Alfred, his character arc in the terrible "Batman and Robin" is that movie's only saving grace.

Agree with Alex - he was a superb Alfred in Batman.

RIP Michael. I thought he was older than 94, too.

    I don't think they had a top-ten in the 1920's.

I don't think pop music was very big in the twenties. And I don't have a clue what was at number 1 when I was 10 anyway.
