Packed Lunch Alternatives
Spun off from the one weigh of life thread -
The traditional English packed lunch is a sandwich. They're quick, cheap and easy to make in the mornings. Unfortunately, it seems that white bread turns you into an overweight diabetic monster, cheese is simply fattening and processed ham gives you bowel cancer.
But what are the alternatives? What can you have as a packed lunch that will actually make you healthier rather than send you rocketting to the grave?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

There's always the salad option. That was popular for a while!

Actually, Tesco do some very nice packets of fried fruit - dried apricots, raisons, mango and a rather delicious cranberry and peanut mix. While slightly high in sugars (albeit natural ones) they are good for fibre and I was thinking would make a healthy alternative if you get tempted into having a biscuit with your lunch. They do a pretty much constant "3 for £2" offer on them.

I know it's not the done thing to chuckle at typos but "fried fruit" in a healthy eating thread was amusing.
I might be guilty of occasionally skipping lunch most days.Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?
If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

Are Ryvitas and/or crackers high in carbs? Would they be better than bread? I'm looking at low carb options for lunches!
Any ideas?
