While on my way home on Sunday I passed Anthony Stewart-Head going in the opposite direction. Presumable he was after the tube train I'd just vacated.

This is a picture of the original ceiling of the scenery block at Television Centre:
Apparently this was Peter Brachaki's inspiration for the roundels inside the TARDIS - I never knew that!

If I'd seen that earlier I'd have puched for that ceiling in my newly refurbed library. Gorgeous!

I really this article on Aint It Cool News, about one guy's personal relationship with Doctor Who - http://www.aintitcool.com/node/50066
I don't necessarily agree with the episodes that he likes the most, but I think it's superbly written, and he highlights what's so great about the series really effectively."RIP Henchman No.24."

I lost interest when I realised he thought the old series was never very good, and the new series is brilliant. Pff.

I'd recommend reading the rest - that was his initial view of the old series when young, but watching it as an adult has changed his opinion completely.

I know... I know... this should be in the New Series but... is it really worth a thread of it's own?
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/...-corridor.html
Karen Gillan was reportedly found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of partying in April.
The Doctor Who star was wrapped in a sheet by hotel security and escorted to her room after being found nude and "whimpering" at 7am at The Ace in Manhattan, the Daily Mail reports.
A permanent resident of the hotel told the newspaper that he heard someone trying to get into his room and went to investigate.
"I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door," he said. "The next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving."
He added: "Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck.
"She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her."
After security arrived and escorted the woman, later identified by the resident as Gillan, away, the man said: "I never saw Lady Godiva again."
Gillan's spokesman declined to comment to the newspaper and a BBC Worldwide spokesman said: "We're unaware of this alleged incident."
The actress was in New York in April as part of a promotional tour for Doctor Who.
And how ironic, the name of the hotel!

If it was actually Karen he would have said:
He added: "Then I saw this giant parsnip, with a wig on, trying to wrap two towels around itself and not having much luck.
"It then started to whimper and knock on my door and I realised it was a woman. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down on a baking tray and tried to cover herself with foil."

Peter Jackson is such a fan of Doctor Who he bought Sylvester McCoy's old Timelord costume on the internet.
The Lord Of The Rings director is a big admirer of the BBC sci-fi show, and keeps the Doctor Who memorabilia on display in his New Zealand home to show off to guests.
Doctor Who star Frances Barber, who is friends with Peter and Sylvester, revealed to Dr Who Insider magazine: "Sylvester and I were in Peter's house and he said, 'Look in that cabinet.'
"In there was Sylvester's Dr Who costume. Peter bought it on eBay. Isn't that wacky?"
Peter has also cast Sylvester as wizard Radagast the Brown in his film adaptation of The Hobbit.

I've no doubt it was Karen. If I was in my early twenties, glamorous looking and getting paid loads of money to be in Doctor Who, I'd be naked in hotel rooms every week. Possibly every day. Maybe every hour.

I've just been explaining to a young customer at work why 80s Cybermen are better than the new ones. He's pestering his Mum to buy Earthshock on DVD now. Excellent!

Well done Si - just as long as he picks up Earthshock rather than Silver Nemesis...

US Sitcom Community had a Who spoof in it this week:
It wasn't the funniest thing ever, but hey, there's no such thing as bad publicity, as they say...*
*Though in this day and age that's obviously an enormous lie. But that's probably best left to be discussed another day..."RIP Henchman No.24."

Which actor was at one point considered for the part of Wilhelm Riech in Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting" video?
Patrick Troughton.
He'd have been good too.

Not a big enough story to have it's own thread, not seen it mentioned on this forum... http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/...5875-23526698/
Spot the massive faux pas she makes!
DOCTOR Who star Karen Gillan wants her character Amy Pond to die.
The actress, 23, said: “Death would be an option. I don’t want Amy to pop up again every so often, because for me it would take away from the big, emotional goodbye.”
Karen reckons the next series could be Amy’s last – and she hinted that she could become the first doctor’s sidekick to die on screen.
“Once she’s gone, she’s gone,” said Karen. “I want people to remember the Amy Pond era as a good one.”
Karen, who lives with her photographer lover Patrick Green, also revealed that playing Amy has made her think differently about kids.
She added: “I’ve always said, ‘I’m going to be a cool mum. I’m going to let them do their own thing...’
“But as I get older and as I pretend to be a mother in Doctor Who, I realise that I am actually quite strict. I will be a lot more overprotective than I thought I’d be.”
she hinted that she could become the first doctor’s sidekick to die on screen.
Ah Karen, but what about Sarah Kingdom? And Katrina? Put your knickers back on love, and make us a cup of tea.*
*=Planet Skaro would like to point out that such dinosaur attitudes to women are not acceptable, even as a joke. (Ah, but it was a reference to the above story about her being found drunk and naked on an American trip! Honest!)

Are you opening up the are-Katarina-and-Sara-Kingdom-really-companions nest of hornets, then...?
This seems to indicate that she's back next year as a full-time companion. And of perhaps even more interest, "as I pretend to be a mother in Doctor Who" suggests there'll be a toddler aboard the TARDIS next year, too...!
